The farms that survive the next five years are going to be the ones that know their break-even down to the cent and have one revenue stream that has nothing to do with commodities.
Diversification stopped being a buzzword. It became survival.
@iamyourfarmer Did the same yesterday for the Jr High track meet and today for the High school meet. Had a guy tell me once he might raise 40 crops in his lifetime but can only raise one crop of kids… puts it in a different perspective

We are at the point where you need a crop insurance specialist. We have changed companies this year as a result of all the crop insurance changes so we can have expert advice and opinions. It’s getting complicated.
@BHobelmann No gauge or press wheels? we used to run out of parts when I built lawn mowers and do similar things then have to go back and add them when parts showed up… not as handy but the overtime was nice!
Man, this one stings. A lot.
Why do bad things happen to good people and good friends?
Life just isn’t fair, damnit.
No parent should ever have to bury their kid. Ever. 15 years is too fucking young. Didn’t even know what life was all about yet.
Park the damn combine and go to the game tonight. Go to the choir concert before starting tomorrow. Take a break for dinner with your family.
Hug your kids tighter (as much as the little shits can piss you off sometimes) and don’t take a damn thing for granted. Cherish every last “daddy” or “mommy” … This one is a harsh reality check that we don’t know when something could be the last.
Be a friend, tell a friend, check in on a friend.
@iamyourfarmer Is this on the ECO/SCO? I met with insurance and they ran me through it, wheat still didn’t pencil on its own but somehow I didn’t have as big the loss at average production I’m not sure I understand it yet, but am more confused esp about how the county average affects the policy
Hold up is this that coward @HawleyMO begging @KristiNoem for federal help in Missouri after they had some devastating storms there….I’m all for giving them some of that delicious federal socialism but I’m also pretty sure Hawley constantly votes against giving help to blue states like California when they have fires
