@oviosu suggestion: this might land better if the key actions of the text heavy comms are extracted. eg. where to go, what to submit, how to submit, when to expect a response. clear steps + timelines will reduce repeated complaints.
@Meedeey yes! 💯 i didn’t have the luxury to grow into this mindset. new country, industry & work culture.
kept hearing bird’s-eye view, zoom out, connect the dots, systems thinking. had to learn fast & adapt by tracking decisions, mapped dependencies, weighed opportunity cost & risks.
There are only 3 types of work that actually move your career forward.
I’m currently focused on 1, 2 and 3🤣
𝟏. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤
Learning things that show up repeatedly in real roles.
(Tech, tools, domain knowledge, communication.)
𝟐. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤
Anything that leaves evidence:
→ shipped outcomes
→ documented decisions
→ measurable impact
→ artifacts people can point to
If it can’t be shown, it doesn’t count.
𝟑. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤
Things that compound without you being present:
→ writing
→ teaching
→ mentoring
→ systems
→ reusable assets
If your weeks aren’t dominated by them…you’re moving on vibes.

If you are wondering why I'm asking this, you need to learn about 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘁 and 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘁.
Let me explain this to you using two real world examples.

Different machine learning problem types need different algorithms
Here is what we find to be effective:
Predictive models: GBMs, Trees, Nested NNs
Forecasting: LSTM+, CNNs
Personalization: GRUs, Transformers, Two-tower
Language: fine-tuning transformers
Anomaly: VAE
Quick insight here for anyone who needs it: You have always heard people say
"You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read i.e what you know or knowledge acquired.
But it's a little deeper than that!

Today was an emotional one. I visited my alma matter after 22 years to launch an education endowment fund.
So many memories and had goosebumps going back to see my old locker!
God bless AFCS Ibadan!
Ever heard of the PayPal Mafia?
It's a team of former PayPal employees so prolific that Business Insider labeled them "The Richest Group Of Men In Silicon Valley."
After leaving PayPal, many of them went on to build some of the largest companies we now know.
Here's the list 🧵
RICH measured in $. WEALTH measured in TIME. Example. Most people think $1 million is rich. But if expenses are $100,000 a month wealth is only 10 months. QUESTION: HOW LONG CAN YOU SURVIVE WITHOUT WORKING? That’s how wealthy you are. Being WEALTHY more important than being RICH
