This week I didn't get rejected! When you spend your time submitting writing and the rejections pile up; it's not easy to stay positive when you put yourself out there on the job market. So despite being ill with covid, I landed a job!
@CaroFentiman @AutisticGirls_@JulietMckee@Channel4News@darshnasoni@Autism Yes. And the private diagnosis often ends up being the only option available for parents and parents have to be so clued up because some local authorities will not accept the private diagnosis. And private diagnosis costs are astounding.
@ErnestStrafford That's the spirit. Find distraction. Put all energy into the distraction. And if needs be, put your phone in the concrete to stop the incessant email refreshing. Fingers crossed 🤞 your book finds a wonderful home.
@AutisticGirls_ @CaroFentiman @JulietMckee@Channel4News@darshnasoni@Autism Yes. I was offered a parenting courses years ago when I first queried whether my daughter needed some support with her social skills. Oh and told my parenting caused an attachment disorder. Totally weaponised and used for a tick box exercise and excuse for not giving support.
@darshnasoni@JulietMckee@Channel4News Yes. Massive difference. Girls mask more. The way we are viewed through a lens of gender often means autistic girls are simply seen as behaving in an age appropriate way. They are quiet. They hide. They may be super chatty too. But aren't displaying 'typical traits' 🙄
@JulietMckee@Channel4News@darshnasoni Yes delayed diagnosis is a huge problem in girls, and if you do get a diagnosis, there's no guarantee of support for your child. SEN provision needs a huge shake up. We have to fight for everything and it shouldn't be this way.
Read and listen to this report. Our young people are in crisis. A mental health crisis that lockdown didn't create. It made it worse. I know too many parents who can't get their kids to school. And I know too many parents waiting on an ASD diagnosis. 2 years is 2 long.
Tens of thousands of children in England are persistently, or severely absent from schools, a new report says.
@darshnasoni hears from children who have struggled to access face-to-face education.

@LauraPAuthor Hope he's not too poorly. My husband swerved it when me and my daughter had it, but tested positive last week. And gave it to me. Sometimes I'd prefer it if we didn't share everything. Hope you and the kids swerve it.
@LornaCookAuthor@rachel_fw Yes, first time I had it I never tested positive. This time (day 8, still positive) I knew I had it as felt exactly like I did with Delta. I tested negative with lfts, on the same day I went for a pcr and that came back positive.
