Yesterday in Parliament I called on the Government to IMMEDIATELY remove the RSPCA enforcement powers because of its conflicting interests with enforcing animal cruelty legislation and involving itself in activism to ban duck hunting.

The Victorian Government have just agreed to my motion to provide all documents relating to the closure of the native timber industry. I look forward to seeing these on December 1st.

We don't hunt during the breeding season so it's rather strange that the breeding season is apparently moving forward!

Conflicting science on the GMA website has raised concerns about the veracity of the data being used by the ministers to determine the arrangements for the 2021 duck season.
One part of the website says breeding starts in August and another says June.

New data released last week on duck numbers in Victoria showed more than 10 times those previously thought. This should have resulted in the announcement of a Full Season (87 days) with a Full Bag Limit (10). This would require an extension of the season, but that can happen...

Today’s announcement from the GMA increasing the bag limit from 2 to 5 and the lifting of the restrictions on Teal demonstrates that there is indeed something wrong with the ‘science’ used to determine the annual duck season... [1 of 3]

It also shows that we really do need to see all the documentation used to determine this years season to find out what went wrong.
I have been in regular discussions with Minister @MaryAnneThomas and will thank her for acting on the ‘new’ data and increasing the bag.
