Insightful discussion at the Blue Economy & Finance Forum in Monaco with OceanHub Africa on making Africa’s blue economy truly investable. Key themes: practical policies, stronger legal frameworks, and long-term African-led investment tailored to local realities; not one-size-fits-all solutions. Great sharing the panel with Chris Wu, Yasmine Hamraoui, Madeleine Nyiratuza, PhD, and moderator Alexis Grosskopf. 🌍🌊 #BlueEconomy #Africa #Sustainability
Great discussions at the #MonacoBlueInitiative on governing and financing the ocean in a fragmented world. I shared lessons from investing in conservation - communities are the custodians of conservation. Whether on land or at sea, conservation only works when communities see tangible benefits and are part of the solution.

Africa’s oceans and coastlines are central to millions of livelihoods, but do not receive enough attention in global development conversations. With over 30,000 km of coastline and 38 coastal and island states generating more than $300 billion annually in Africa, the opportunity for a regenerative blue economy is enormous.
Join me and other panelists as we explore what more needs to be done at the Monaco Blue Initiative.

Africa’s telecom towers are shifting from diesel to solar. Costs, logistics and emissions are driving one of the fastest real clean energy transitions. https://t.co/OkMbTP0bW0
SMRs are entering Africa’s energy conversation. The countries building regulatory and financing capacity now will shape future power systems. https://t.co/4MMGKaUCgV
Asia-Pacific leads fuel delivery systems, but Africa’s ICE, hybrid & aftermarket growth may define the next mobility opportunity. #Mobility#Africa https://t.co/Wj4PphFiED
Africa holds ~3.4tn m³ gas (Mozambique, Tanzania, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt). Growth to ~$60bn by 2031 depends on how quickly projects reach production and how steadily supply is delivered across markets.

Africa’s green hydrogen projects are scaling via renewables-based electrolysis. Export demand is rising, but policy must ensure domestic energy access grows alongside industrial ambitions to avoid a dual-speed energy future. https://t.co/UEv2GMyykY
Oil demand is ~103–105 mb/d, driven by emerging economies powering industry and transport. IEA sees most growth from non-OECD through 2030. Does the energy transition align with developing world industrialisation? https://t.co/FQy5JL8m9X
#EarthDay2026 is focused on how we use our power every day sustainably. Renewable energy is central to this perspective, not only as a cleaner source of power but as a way of building systems that are sustainable over time. Happy Earth Day! #EarthDay#OurPowerOurPlanet
AI is driving electricity demand in Africa as data centers grow. This is an opportunity for investment in hybrid energy systems. AI power demand could compete with households & industry. Key goal: strengthen access, affordability, & grid reliability.

Africa's transmission grid needs to be modernized asap. Some countries have surplus power, others need it. TYIIP plan brings 5 Power pools into a single grid by 2036 and 60% of the world's best solar resources become investable. Africa powers itself.

Africa is the second largest holder of undeveloped gas. Nigeria 113 tcf, Mozambique 129 tcf, Tanzania 57 tcf with $40B LNG project. Gas can power industry, attract investment and boost energy security. Capital must flow to unlock this potential.

TAQA Dalbit has launched a second CNG station in Dar, TZ expanding access to cleaner, cheaper energy. The station supports up to 800 vehicles daily, can convert 1,000 vehicles a year from liquid fuel to gas, & strengthens TZ's energy security while cutting CO2 emissions by 25%.
Kenya is using tech to protect wildlife. Project Centinela and the Smart Biosphere link satellites, AI, and IoT to monitor habitats in real time and securely share data across conservancies. Smarter conservation for a borderless wildlife future. #ConservationTech#Kenya
Eid is a reminder that the true measure of what we build lies not only in milestones, but in the strength of our communities and the generosity we show within them. Wishing you and your loved ones a day filled with peace, togetherness & gratitude. Eid Mubarak! 🌙
This year's Africa Energy Indaba, Cyril Ramaphosa stressed that Africa’s energy agenda must align with its industrial agenda. Focusing on access has slowed real economic transformation. Africa must tackle both. https://t.co/nZXImGVxGG
