@MCCCANM As a controller I’m surprised pilots only average 1-2 a year. They seem common on the controller side. Even when I know they weren’t high our fast when I ship them to tower.
@MCCCANM At Miramar the ground crew would forget to remove the pins from the gear on F18’s a few times a year. Always wondered what happened to the marine who forgot.
@MCCCANM 500ft separation is legal. I won’t use 500ft because of RA’s and it makes pilots uncomfortable. They don’t know our separation rules (they change for different airspace).
@stewak2@MCCCANM My point is, attract better candidates. Which boosts graduation rates. Towers in my area have had higher wash out rates the last year. We need better quality candidates.
@stewak2@MCCCANM When people start retiring as soon as they are eligible what then? 20% bonus won’t keep everyone around until 56. There’s a standard for ATC. If they can’t pass the academy, we don’t want them at our facility. If they wanted more trainees they could expand MMAC.
@MCCCANM I hate asking why an aircraft goes around but ATC is required to ask if the go around occurs inside of a 1/2 mile final. Some pilots get touchy about it. I don’t care bro, just say unstable.
