Here’s my actual thumbnail process in 2026:

It’s not just “open Photoshop and make something cool.”

Here’s how I go from brief → finished thumbnail 🧵

Preserve the person's face exactly as it appears in the uploaded image.

Do NOT regenerate, reconstruct, reinterpret, beautify, reshape, or replace the face.

Maintain the exact:

Facial structure and proportions
Head shape
Jawline and chin
Cheekbones
Nose
Eyes and eye spacing
Eyebrows
Lips and mouth
Teeth
Ears
Hairline
Facial hair
Natural skin details
Age and identity

The final person must be unmistakably the exact same individual.

Treat this as professional photo retouching of the original photograph, NOT generating a new person from a reference.

PROFESSIONAL STUDIO LIGHTING

Use high-end professional studio portrait lighting:

Large softbox key light positioned slightly above and to the side of the face
Soft, flattering but realistic illumination
Gentle fill light to maintain natural facial detail
Subtle, controlled highlights on the skin
Soft natural shadows underneath the jaw and around facial contours
Even exposure across the face
Clean catchlights in the eyes
Realistic skin texture and pores
No harsh flash
No dramatic cinematic lighting
No colored lighting
No overexposure
No artificial glow
No excessive skin smoothing

The lighting should resemble a premium commercial studio portrait photographed with a professional camera and large softboxes.

BACKGROUND

Replace the background with a completely plain pure white (#FFFFFF) studio background.

No objects, environment, patterns, gradients, or distractions.

The background should be clean and seamless.

APPEARANCE
