Trail condition @ Lair o’ the Bear: some ice & mud patches. Much is drained & dry. Time to start carrying microspikes. If you hit a muddy patch, hike & ride through it, not around it. You trample plants & widen trails when you go around mud. #LNT@JeffcoOpenSpace
Heads up, @JeffcoOpenSpace visitors! Today is good #rattlesnake weather. Cool overnight temps make warm #trails appealing for basking. Keep #dogs on a short lead & keep one earbud out! See a #snake? Give it space & time to leave the area like this one is doing. @ North Table Loop

The poster is from AZ, but the message applies @JeffcoOpenSpace today. Hot trails can be deadly for #dogs. Walk early or late in the day to avoid K9 heat stress & heat stroke. Some dogs collapse without warning. Look for symptoms such as thick saliva & frequent stops. #safety
#JeffcoTrails condition update: packed snow, some ice & some mud patches @JeffcoOpenSpace Meyer Ranch Park. Lots of birds, too! Listen for the red-breasted nuthatch on the vid. Also kinglets, chickadees, & siskins.
#spring is all along the trail today @JeffcoOpenSpace! Sand lilies, Nuttall’s violet, spring beauty & wavy-leaf dandelion @ Deer Creek Canyon. Also many sightings of broad-tailed #hummingbirds & turkey #vultures. ❤️wildflowers & wildlife? Stay on authorized trails & pick up 💩
@JCOSRangerShaun noticed these trailside pasque flowers in bloom. ❤️ #wildflowers? Be sure you pick up dog 💩. 💩 degrades soil quality & can favor #noxious weeds. @JeffcoOpenSpace Lair o’ the Bear signs of #spring
Made my day! Two runners noted me picking up trash along the trail @ North Table Mtn & asked for a bag so they could do the same. We ❤️ visitors who help take care of their trails. @JeffcoOpenSpace Mesa Top Trail #LNT#packitout
Coyotes are an excellent reason to leash your #dog. This one was out foraging at 11 a.m. today @ Van Bibber. Coyotes see domestic dogs as competition, particularly during denning season. Be safe, not sorry. ❤️ ‘em, leash ‘em @JeffcoOpenSpace#safety
@JeffcoOpenSpace trail condition update: Mount Galbraith is a mix of packed snow, slush, ice, and some muddy sections. Traction devices encouraged. Stay on the trail tread in muddy patches. Walking around mud damaged plants & increases erosion.
@JeffcoOpenSpace trail condition update. My. Galbraith is a mixed bag of packed snow, ice, slush, & drained & dry. Traction devices highly recommended. #safety#ice#jeffcotrails
River ice: beautiful & potentially deadly. No #ice is safe. Enjoy river, pond & lake ice from the shore. Keep pets leashed & off the ice. Be safe, not sorry. @JeffcoOpenSpace Clear Creek Canyon, Mayhem Gulch Bridge. #safety
@JeffcoOpenSpace Trail condition update. Peaks to Plains Trail, Mayhem-Big Easy: packed snow & some ice. Improved surface trails like P2P are a good choice when some parks are closed for muddy trail conditions. #LNT#mudhacks
