Visité El Cairo, Valle del Cauca, un municipio que desde 1970 no recibía la visita de un Presidente de la República. He venido a abrazar a sus familias y a decirles de corazón que no están solas.

Sé lo que han sufrido y conozco el dolor que ha dejado esta tragedia. Pero también sé de la fortaleza de nuestra gente. Mi compromiso es gobernar desde el territorio, sin distancias y con hechos.

Estados Unidos va a liberar a Cuba, y la mejor manera de hacerlo es convertirla en un Estado Libre Asociado, como Puerto Rico. No hay forma de reconstruir el desastre de más de 60 años de comunismo si no es bajo un esquema de estabilidad, institucionalidad y libertad real.

Cuba ha sido la cabeza de la serpiente: el cerebro del comunismo en América Latina durante décadas. Desde allí se ha irradiado una ideología que ha empobrecido naciones y ha sometido pueblos.

Ya cayó Venezuela, que era parte del cuerpo de esa serpiente. Pero la cabeza sigue viva: es Cuba.

Iván Cepeda sabe que ese momento ya llegó, y por eso pretende convertir a Colombia en la nueva cabeza de la serpiente del comunismo en la región.
