Here are a few fun facts! 🧩

The east coast of the United States has only been hit by one major hurricane (Category 3–5) in the past 30 years (Jeanne, 2004). So, there have been none in the last two decades.

No state north of Florida have been struck by a major hurricane in more than 30 years (Fran, 1996).

New England has not been hit by a major since Carol (1954). The most recent overall was Bob (1991).

A major hurricane has not made direct landfall in the state of Georgia since 1898.

By this metric, it's the quietest 30-year period for the east coast in over a century.

There were six MHs from 1907–36, eleven from 1937–66, and three from 1967–96. However, the 1967–96 period had the fewest overall hurricane landfalls in the mix with fourteen. The most was 1937–66 with 32 total hurricane strikes.

My daughter came home from school and said,
“Mum, you’re not going to believe what happened in history class today.”
Her teacher told the class they were going to play a game.
He walked around the room and whispered to each kid whether they were a witch or just a regular person. Then he gave the instructions:
“Form the biggest group you can without a witch. If your group has even one, you all fail.”
She said the whole room instantly lit up with suspicion.
Everyone started interrogating each other. Are you a witch? How do we know you’re not lying?
Some kids clung to one big group, but most broke off into smaller, exclusive cliques. They turned away anyone who seemed uncertain, nervous, or gave off even the slightest hint of being guilty.
The energy shifted fast. Suddenly everyone was suspicious of everyone.
Whispers. Finger-pointing. Side-eyes. Trust dissolved in minutes.
Finally, when all the groups were formed, the teacher said,
“Alright, time to find out who fails. Witches, raise your hands.”
And not one hand went up.
The whole class exploded. “Wait! You messed up the game!”
And then the teacher dropped the bomb:
“Did I? Were there any actual witches in Salem, or did everyone just believe what they were told?”
My daughter said the room went dead silent.
That’s when it hit them. No witch was ever needed for the damage to happen. Fear had already done its work. Suspicion alone divided the entire class, turning community into chaos.
And isn’t that exactly what we’re seeing today?
Different words, same playbook.
Instead of “witch,” it’s liberal, conservative, vaxxed, unvaxxed, pro-this, anti-that.
The labels shift, but the tactic is the same.
Get people scared. Get them suspicious. Get them divided.
Then sit back while trust crumbles.
The danger was never the witch.
The danger is the rumour. The suspicion. The fear. The planted lies.
Refuse the whisper. Don’t play the game. Because the second we start hunting “witches,” we’ve already lost.

An Atlanta businessman started making calls. One reached a 40-year-old New York developer named Donald Trump.

Americans sent checks. It still wasn’t enough. Trump and a Texas oilman quietly covered the last $78,000. No press release. No cameras.

Annabel’s family still lives on that farm today.

The media never tells you this side of Trump.

A widow with no lobbyist got a phone call and $78,000 she never had to repay.

Joe Biden told the state the $2,000 check only moved if they sent Ossoff and Warnock to Washington.

They won the Senate on that line. Then they mailed the money.

Now Trump puts a $5,000 Trump Dividend on holding both chambers November 3 — adult U.S. citizens, spend it here, not China — and Gavin Newsom calls it “taxpayer-funded blood money.”

2026 was not the “hottest summer on record” in the Conterminous United States.

This framing by CNN and most other legacy media outlets is highly misleading, even if the information that they're reporting is correct [at face value].

The term “hottest” implies that the average maximum temperatures (daytime highs) were the highest on record. But NOAA NCEI's nClimDiv dataset shows that they were 4th highest on record behind 1936, 1934, and 2012, respectively. What they should say is that it was the “warmest on record” (but even that might not be true for reasons I'll mention in a later post). Even NOAA does not claim 2026 was the “hottest summer on record” in U.S. They carefully said “warmest.”

The reason why summer 2026 was the “warmest” on record is due to very high overnight low temperatures, not so much daytime highs. Most of the extreme heat in terms of daytime highs this past summer was also confined to the Desert Southwest / Four Corners area of the Lower 48.

I plotted a map of the average temperature rankings for all 344 U.S. climate districts NOAA uses below. Notice that there are very few No. 1s in the U.S. this year, and that all are confined to the Southwest (as well as the majority of the other top fives). But if you look at the summer of 1936, the No. 1s cover about half of the map and it was a top five warmest summer for most of the country.

So, spatially speaking, 2026 came nowhere close to 1936, and anyone claiming otherwise is being highly dishonest. It is an apples-to-oranges comparison.

A new study analyzed daily temperatures from 992 long-running weather stations across 29 countries covering the years 1899 to 2024.

Then it compared those temperatures to cumulative human CO2 emissions.

They don't match.

From 1899 to 1940, the planet warmed at a rate of 0.022 C per year, even though emissions were low.

Then from 1941 to 1982, temperatures cooled, despite CO2 emissions more than tripling.

From 1983 to 2024, warming returned, but slower than before, at a rate of 0.017 C per year, even as emissions rose 8.6 times higher than during the earlier warming phase.

As the author conclude: "These findings challenge the conventional assumption that human-induced CO2 is the primary driver of global warming."

This is because the strongest warming occurred before major modern emissions kicked in, and later periods with far more CO2 show weaker warming, or even cooling.

Earth's climate is still governed by natural variability.
