And that was for 6 weeks of work.
I was literally paid pittance, I was exploited. I was run ragged.
But somehow it was all legal. Somehow I am supposed to be okay with that?
That’s not right by any means and people who think it is are delusional.
I worked on a Spanish based film that ended up winning a spirit award.
The actress also ended up nominated for best actress competing against Salma Hayak and Francis McDormand.
Used my car for everything. And worked 15 hour days on set. Criminal.
I was paid maybe 1200. MAYBE
“That’s how it was when I came up” sure but we are not in the 1980s anymore. Or the 2010s.
People deserve to get paid adequately and be a part of profits when there are some to be had. Their work should be just as valued as the directors, writers, and producers.
That is a travesty for anyone on a movie, especially now. People operate on rates from 2005 and it’s killing people’s desire to do this
I’ve had to threaten to walk off films in order for people to get paid more. Or threaten to fight LPs because I know they’re shorting pay.
You are not class conscious if you have an issue with the Obsession art director wanting more money for their labor because the film exploded in income
People on here go "um why would that person benefit from the unbelievable profits of a movie when they already got paid upfront" and then repost Frylock voice actor Carey Mean's GoFundMe
@farazansari77 I applied to NYU ten years ago. My parents I got letters of a data breach that occurred last year. Why was my application and info from that application cycle still saved! It makes no sense
I have help make successful tv shows for Hulu, Netflix, MTV, VH1, BET, Paramount, and god knows what else. They have all made god knows how much ad money a subscription dollars off all of those shows.
I’ve seen none of that and had to start driving uber today.
This industry is unsustainable for its workers in the future as it’s eating itself alive for the shareholders to see marginally greater returns.
It used to be fun.
But I see it in all my coworkers eyes. They’re all worried not just me.
Have had a tough day with my anxiety and not having a job for a while because tv is imploding but I’m happy I have supportive people around me even when I’m not feeling my greatest.
Here’s hoping I find a job soon that quells these nerves because the job hunt sucks.
This is so depressing because it shows that America could have Medicare for all, solve the housing crisis, have high-speed rail, etc. But actively chooses not to.
@Columbia genuine question: like how bad was your data breach last year that even my parents are getting notified that their info was leaked.
I’ve gotten a letter and my parents each about the breach. At this point admissions should let me in. That’s crazy.
Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of Cuban-Americans in the U.S. that are against the blockade.
Some are not public about it because they are scared of the repression they might be submitted to by the U.S. Gov.
Others are scared of being deported or harassed by ICE.
