Germany's far-right AfD pledged to remove refugee and disabled children from mainstream schools if it wins the Saxony-Anhalt regional election on September 6.

The party's manifesto calls the "inclusion experiment failed" and says refugee children should be educated separately "to reinforce the message that their stay in Germany is only temporary."

Islamic education would not be offered as "Islam is not part of Germany."

The AfD also plans to expand Russian language teaching and reinstate school exchanges with Russia, citing cultural ties from the East German era.

The AfD leads polls heading into the election.

It would need over 40% to form the first wholly AfD government in German history.
