Brilliant win for our u16s tonight.
Fort William u16s 8 v 1 Lochalsh u18s in the Skye and Lochalsh u18 league.
Absolutely brilliant team performance.
Thanks to Stuart Young of S A Young Ltd for sponsoring our new kit.
@WestHighlandAFA
@DcbhoyDanny We're more than happy to talk to whoever, just point us in the right direction if you're not wanting to be part of us getting the 16s going again. It can only be for the benefit of kids in Fort William. I'll leave it at that, cheers.
@DcbhoyDanny I appreciate that but as part of the youth committee and the fact you were part of the meeting that decided it was the end of 16s.
You as a good football man can surely not have thought it was a good and sensible idea to not fight to keep the 16s going?
@DcbhoyDanny There was organised 16s football until last week when the bomb was dropped it was scrapped. My boy anyway was looking forward to resuming after the holidays. Too many good players to be dropped with no football. We look forward to the meeting with you guys
@DcbhoyDanny Well I don't know the politics with senior team but in my opinion everyone should be working together.
Hopefully us TWITTER DADS can get a resolution to 16s next week ๐๐
@DcbhoyDanny That's sound Danny, spoke to Norman so hopefully something can be worked out. It's an age group that in years to come might benefit the seniors or they make the step up to another level. Crucial not to lose their interest.
@DcbhoyDanny That's fine Danny. If it keeps kids playing football then Dads I'm 100% sure will give up their their time.
I was asked less than 6 months to take goalies when I could. I said no bother, never heard anymore from youth set up ???
@norhoops@DcbhoyDanny 100% agree with Norman, kids need to be playing competitive games against the best teams in leagues and cups. Can only benefit them for the future.
7 a side local league is a great idea for primary school age or as an extra in summer when leagues finish .
@RIMacMillan87@DcbhoyDanny This is the thing Bobby,as far as parents were aware coaches were in place for 16s. Nobody was told it was an issue until you and Danny have said to me. I'm going on the information we received last night.
@RIMacMillan87@DcbhoyDanny Yeah and nobody can fault anyone that gives up there own time and effort. Were the 16s in the league for this coming season and pulled out because the coach situation?
@RIMacMillan87@DcbhoyDanny Were you at the meeting Bobby ? Why a refusal is being given as the reason and not failing to meet the criteria when it's now about coaches/volunteers. If that was the case I'm pretty confident people would have stepped forward to take kids.
@DcbhoyDanny Well that's not what was communicated to the parents Danny, completely the opposite. One coach said he was stepping down and no one has been told there was an issue there. Criteria was the reason given.
@RIMacMillan87@DcbhoyDanny I've offered help to both first team and youths in past Bobby and both times the offer wasn't taken up. The last time being only a few months ago. A lot easier for people that work Mon to Fri rather than shifts to commit.
@RIMacMillan87@DcbhoyDanny From what we were told by one of the coaches who is now stepping down,it was a refusal due to the club not meeting the criteria. Now Fort are not in HL league they have to apply and youths don't meet the criteria. That's what we were told Bobby and not about no coaches.
@macdonaldmarc@FortWilliamFC@ScottishHFL It's not good Marc, couldn't believe it when I heard it last night. You're right, impossible to improve and keep getting kids into the senior team . It's at 16s and 18s kids tend to fall away as it is to other things ๐
@FortWilliamFC@ScottishHFL relegation now having a major impact on youth football in the town.
Highland League have refused an application for the u16s to join the league.
A lot of good young players now left with no games to play on a regular basis unless things change.
