Chicago lost the Bears this week. A team that's been in the city since 1921.
They didn't lose them to a bigger market or a better deal. The Bears decided they'd rather be a tenant in Indiana than deal with Illinois for one more year.
Think about how badly you have to run a place for that to be the smart move.
They lost them for two reasons.
The people running Illinois would rather villainize a builder than keep one. And they're bad at their jobs.
In 2021 the Bears spent $197M on the old Arlington Park racetrack.
Before they could break ground, Cook County valued the empty lot at $192M (Bears said $60M). They were salivating at the chance to extort a building that didn't even exist yet.
That fight dragged on for years.
The Bears were ready to put $2B into the stadium. All they wanted was a promise the county wouldn't reassess them into oblivion, plus $855M for infrastructure everyone uses. Roads, transit, utilities. A $3B project, two thirds of it private money pouring into Illinois.
Springfield had since 2021 to get this done. They dragged it to the final night of session, passed it through the Senate at 3:39AM, and the House went home without voting.
So now it's all gone.
The funniest part? This started because Cook County tried to grab the tax early. They knew a built stadium would pay $53M a year. Now they get under $4M on a vacant lot. No jobs, no buildout, no new anything.
Congrats on fighting for scraps and losing the whole prize.
Pritzker: they're "an $8.5B valued business" that doesn't need propping up.
But be smart for a second. Almost every NFL city throws in public money for a stadium. Not charity. The return is real. Tourism, hotels, restaurants, jobs, game days, property tax on a huge development. The math works.
Indiana did the math. While Illinois sat on it for years, Indiana passed a bill in months, put up $1B, and took the team.
And the Bears took a worse deal to get there. In Illinois they were going to own their stadium. In Indiana they rent it from the state. A team that wanted to build its own home gave up ownership just to escape Chicago.
Nobody won but Indiana. The Bears lost their stadium. Illinois lost the team, the $2B, and $53M a year in taxes.
Pritzker after they left: "I wasn't willing to give up billions of dollars of taxpayer money to give it to a billionaire-owned family or team."
There it is. "Billionaire-owned."
That's how Democrats talk about any business right before they run it out of town. Call them a billionaire, act like you're saving working families, take a victory lap while the tax base drives across the state line.
Meanwhile they're running the whole state into the ground. And you already know how this ends. You're living in it.
Pensions are $143B in the hole, worst in the country and not close. You pay $6,285 a year in property taxes, double the $2,969 national average, for a city that's $1.15B in the red. The mayor called its finances "the point of no return."
When you run things this badly, you sell what's left.
They leased the parking meters for 75 years to Morgan Stanley and a sovereign wealth fund in Abu Dhabi. Took $1.15B and burned through it in two years. The investors already made it all back, with 58 years left to collect.
Sold the Skyway. Sold the downtown garages. Every asset that made money, gone for one check.
But a fixed property tax rate for a team that's been here 106 years? That's "propping up billionaires."
Companies are leaving. Boeing for Virginia. Caterpillar for Texas. Citadel for Miami. In 2023 alone Illinois lost 56,000 people and $6B in income to other states. The ones who left earned a third more than the ones who moved in.
Indiana didn't outbid anyone. AAA credit, 16 years straight. A $676M surplus. Fourth-lowest debt per person in the country. They just weren't a disaster.
Illinois could have collected $53M a year. It chose zero. Ignore all the bad management but make sure to stick it to those evil, pesky billionaires.

Here are 7 cheat codes to make fasting easy and stable (backed by science):🧵
1. High-protein, high-fat last meal
Dr. Mindy Pelz laid out a practical fasting schedule:
- 3-day water fast twice a year (e.g. January & September) to clear senescent cells
- 48-hour fast once a quarter for mental health & mood
- 36-hour fast once a month if weight loss is stuck
24-hour fast once a week as a baseline
- Shorter daily windows (12–17 hours) the rest of the time, adjusted around your cycle
Prolonged fasting (48–72 hours) significantly ramps up autophagy and stem cell regeneration. Valter Longo’s research shows periodic 3-day fasts or fasting-mimicking diets can reduce biological age markers. Shorter fasts (24–36h) improve insulin sensitivity and fat loss.
Different fasting lengths trigger specific benefits, from cellular cleanup to better mood and metabolism.
What fasting schedule have you found works best for you?
Retirees, stop paying cash for cars. It's costing you thousands, and it's only the first mistake on this list.
Walk into the dealership with cash and you feel like you hold all the cards. You've actually just become the easiest person in the building to overcharge.
The second you say cash, you kill the dealer's biggest profit center, and they make it back in the price.
The move. Negotiate like a normal buyer, take the dealer financing, then pay the loan off a week later. Same money, thousands saved. Or stretch the payoff across a couple of tax years so you pull less from taxable accounts in any single one.
That's one. Here are 5 more the people who profit from you are counting on you to never figure out. 👇
Brad Pitt is 62.
He just spent two years training like an athlete to play an F1 driver.
But the reason he looks this good has almost nothing to do with that training.
Here are the 6 things he did:
Everyone thinks gray hair is the result of genetics and aging.
It's not.
It's your body breaking down its own tissues to survive stress.
Here's the real culprit (and how to reverse it): 🧵
The Bible is not a book detached from history. It is rooted in real places, real rulers, real cities, and real events.
These 10 archaeological discoveries provide some of the strongest external evidence that the biblical authors were describing the world as it actually was.
NEW LONG FORM VIDEO: The rise and fall of Topgolf: the $1.5 billion mistake
At one point, Topgolf was called the best thing to happen to golf since Tiger Woods. But in January 2026, the entire business was sold to a private equity firm in what many considered a fire sale. The price was $1.1 billion, less than half of what the company had been worth just five years earlier.
Here’s the surprising part: during those five years, the business never stopped growing. Topgolf kept opening new locations, attracting new customers, and generating more revenue.
So how does a company with growing sales, expanding locations, and a popular brand lose so much value?
What went wrong? Was it bad management, changing consumer habits, or something deeper hidden in the business model?
This is the rise and fall of Topgolf, version two.

5 Prayers Every Husband Should Pray for His Wife
A godly husband does not only provide, protect, and lead. He also covers his wife in prayer.
Your wife faces battles you may never fully see. She carries responsibilities, burdens, emotions, dreams, and spiritual battles. One of the greatest gifts you can give her is consistent prayer.
Pray these Scriptures over your wife regularly.
DON'T JOKE WITH EARLY MORNING PRAYERS
Do not enter a day you have not commanded.
The Bible says:
"Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place?" (Job 38:12)
This scripture reveals a powerful spiritual principle: a believer is not supposed to approach each day casually. Every day comes with opportunities, battles, decisions, and spiritual activities. Before you face men, you should face God. Before you engage the world, you should engage Heaven.
Many of us wake up, check our phones, scroll through social media, rush to prepare for work, take breakfast, and leave the house without spending time in prayer. We start our day reacting to circumstances instead of taking authority over them.
A child of God should not wake up in fear, confusion, or uncertainty. You have been given authority in Christ to speak over your day.
Command favor into your day.
Command divine protection into your day.
Command wisdom into your day.
Command open doors into your day.
Command victory over every plan of the enemy.
The enemy does not wait for you to arrive at work before planning attacks. Spiritual battles are often fought before they are manifested physically. That is why early morning prayer is not a religious routine; it is spiritual preparation.
Jesus Himself prioritized early morning prayer:
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." (Mark 1:35)
If the Son of God saw the necessity of seeking the Father early in the morning, how much more should we?
When you pray in the morning:
- You dedicate your day to God.
- You receive direction and wisdom.
- You silence the voice of fear and anxiety.
- You activate God's promises over your life.
- You position yourself for divine opportunities.
- You frustrate the plans of the enemy.
Do not leave your house without prayer.
Pray before the phone calls.
Pray before the meetings.
Pray before the business transactions.
Pray before the interviews.
Pray before the journey.
Every morning is an opportunity to establish God's will over your life.
Wake up early.
Read the Word.
Worship.
Pray in the Spirit.
Declare God's promises.
Command your morning.
May your day obey the voice of the Lord.
May favor locate you.
May doors open for you.
May every trap of the enemy be exposed and destroyed.
May goodness and mercy follow you throughout the day.
Command your morning before the world speaks into it.
