suffocating, but necessary.

I'm lying in the guest bed,
mind too busy to fall asleep,
with a thousand thoughts
whizzing like accidental fireworks
ignited by a stray match.

I can't even analyse them,
they ping off in angles,
as I watch the street lights outside
change shape, casting

But there's no one else awake.
No one to tell, no words to speak,
just echoes of twisted thoughts
churning along an empty road,
litter scattered by a listless breeze.
