JUST IN: Police are searching for armed robbery suspects who allegedly hijacked businessman Riyaz Jaffer Virran (42) of Rani Group at Okahao last night and fled with valuables worth more than N$1 million, including a Toyota Fortuner.
According to police information, the incident occurred at around 20h10 on 16 June 2026 at an address in Okahao town.
Virran, an Indian national and manager of the Rani Group's Okahao branch, was reportedly confronted by unknown suspects who pointed a pistol at him and demanded money and keys.
The suspects allegedly robbed Virran of a white Toyota Fortuner GD6 valued at N$1 million, an Apple Watch worth N$8 000, a Gucci leather bag valued at N$12 000, cash amounting to N$1 900, a Redmi smartphone worth N$18 000, a gold necklace valued at N$22 000, and a pair of earpods.
The total value of the stolen property is estimated at N$1 076 900.
Police said the stolen vehicle was later recovered after being intercepted at Omungwelume in the Ohangwena Region.
The suspects, however, remain at large and no arrests had been made by this morning.

The High Court has ordered former Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Joseph Shikongo, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security to compensate social activists Michael Amushelelo and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma for their arrest, detention and prosecution following a demonstration against unemployment in 2023.
In a judgement delivered on Wednesday, the court awarded Amushelelo N$300,000 in damages, while Nauyoma was granted N$80,000.
The government was also ordered to pay the legal costs of the matter.
The case stems from the pair's arrest during an unemployment protest held in Windhoek on 21 March 2023. The demonstration coincided with Independence Day and was subsequently cancelled by Shikongo.
Amushelelo and Nauyoma subsequently challenged their arrest, detention and prosecution in court, arguing that their constitutional rights had been violated.
Their lawyer, Kadhila Amoomo, said, "This is a watershed judgement in the history of Namibia because it speaks to the right to assemble and protest."
