I took this picture of HAWC+ onboard SOFIA. It's the instrument used in the recent discovery regarding the (at least temporary) coexistence of both star birth and galaxy death by black hole + quasar. 🌀☠️

If you're thinking about giving up, just remember, galaxy CQ4479 is still birthing new stars while being simultaneously consumed by the massive & highly active black hole at its core, powerful enough to produce a quasar as the galactic material spins into the black hole's center.
