I hear you sir, and I completely understand how heavy that struggle can feel. I’ve been blessed with a wife who is loving and supportive, she has lifted me up in ways I couldn’t have managed alone, but even with her incredible support, there were still struggles she couldn’t fully understand. And that’s simply because she’s not God.
David captures this truth beautifully in Psalm 139:3-4: ‘You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.’ Only God knows us that intimately, every thought, every struggle, every hidden corner of our hearts.
That’s why ultimately, it is Him I look to. He is the one who made me, who understands me perfectly, and who validates me completely. Jesus taught us not to place even father, mother, or spouse above Him because only God has that full, perfect knowledge and authority over our lives. When we anchor ourselves in Him, we find the strength, guidance, and validation we need, even in the darkest seasons. Keep looking to Him, He knows you fully and will carry you through every shadow. Stay strong, sir. 🙏🏾❤️
One of the highlights of my 2025 wasn't a milestone, it was two Bible passages colliding during the darkest mental battle I've faced in my entire life. Romans 8 and 1 John 3:20.
Depression isn't just sadness. It's a courtroom where your own mind prosecutes you, and every piece of evidence feels damning. Sometimes anxiety hijacks rational thought and intrusive thoughts feel like divine condemnation. The spiral convinces you: if God ever loved you… He shouldn't anymore.
Then I read Romans 8 again. Paul doesn't offer gentle reassurance, he shouts defiance:
"Neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor anything in all creation will separate us from the love of God in Christ."
Death? No. Chaos? No. Spiritual forces? No. The future? No. Paul systematically dismantles every external threat to your security in Christ.
But there was a problem. My battle wasn't external. It was inside my skull.
What do you do when your own mind is the accuser? When your mental state makes you feel spiritually disqualified?
Yeah Romans 8 protects you from everything that happens to you. But what protects you from what happens inside you?
That's when 1 John 3:20 landed:
"Whenever our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything."
God is greater than your emotions. Greater than your guilt. Greater than your intrusive thoughts. Greater than your self-assessment. Your heart is not the judge. God is. And His verdict was sealed at the Cross.
Romans 8 defends you from everything external. 1 John 3 defends you from everything internal.
Together, they create assurance that is almost unreasonable in its strength.
What shook me though, is I looked around and this double assurance doesn't exist anywhere else.
Most religions offer: "Earn it" (work harder, prove worthiness), "Transcend it" (the problem is ego attachment), or "Hope but never presume" (claiming certainty is arrogance).
Christianity makes a different claim: "The verdict is in. It was delivered at the Cross. It's irreversible. And it applies even when everything in you screams it shouldn't."
It reads like a coping mechanism but it’s not, it is metaphysical claim about reality. Your standing before God is not determined by your performance, emotional state, mental clarity, or spiritual feelings. It's determined by Christ's finished work. Period!
Christ's love does not evaporate under anxiety. It does not collapse under depression. It does not negotiate based on your worthiness.
If you're in the fog right now: Your anchor is not your feelings. Your anchor is Christ. And that anchor holds.
You don't need to perform your way out. You don't need emotional stability first. You don't need to wait until you feel worthy.
You need to remember what's already true. The verdict was rendered at Calvary. Your heart's opinion, while painful and real, is not evidence being presented to the court. It's noise. Loud, overwhelming noise. But noise nonetheless.
God is greater than your heart. And God's verdict on you in Christ is final.
This is Christianity's unique claim. It's either the most arrogant presumption imaginable, or it's the only hope strong enough to survive actual darkness.
I'm convinced it's the latter. Not because I feel convinced every day. But because Christ's love doesn't require my emotional cooperation to remain true. "I am convinced…"
May we live convinced. Even when convinced is all we have left.
Happy New Year in advance. May your anchor hold. 🫶🏾
LINKEDIN, UPWORK, AND FIVERR GOT ME ZERO REPLIES AFTER 300 APPLICATIONS
These 12 sites landed me 4 remote interviews in 14 days.
Here’s the exact filters, keywords, and templates I used:
The preaching isn't powerful because the audience was wowed and held spellbound by the oratory prowess of the speaker.
The song isn't powerful because people enjoyed the music and applauded the singer.
The prayer isn't powerful because it made the people weep and cry loudly or because it contained dramatic gestures and emotional appeal.
I believe in powerful preaching.
The kind that unveils and enthrones Christ in the heart of the ungodly
The kind that strengthens conviction and compels Consecration amongst the saints.
The kind that transforms the lukewarm into a zealot and pierces deep into the heart of the hypocrite unto reality and repentance
I believe in powerful singing
The kind that leaves an indelible mark on the minds of the audience when the melodies are over.
The kind that creates and sustains the atmosphere of Heaven where Christ is the only Celebrity.
The kind that angels can sing along with because it is sourced from a heart of worship and service not a religious entertainer.
I believe in powerful prayers
Offered in passion and fervency but more importantly received by God and answered by Heaven.
The kind that is prayed in God's presence,
In awe, reverence, faith, and dependence.
The kind that truly opens the heavens and gets the will of God done on earth.
I desire a powerful ministry,
But if "powerful" is not properly defined, I may be wrongly equating fireworks and "banger" to nuclear weapons and Laser missiles.
