It may look a little different, but Mackinac Island has most of the same needs as any other town. That means a fire department, post office, city council, police officers, a jail, and a courthouse.
This morning I got the full behind-the-scenes tour, including a look inside one of their two jail cells.
And PSA, the bike speed limit on the island is 15mph (in some places 10) and they do have a bike impound rack — pedal safe!

Taffy Abel. 102 years ago, he became the first U.S. flag bearer and was also the first Native American athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics.

Since July, I have been very clear: any conversation about my vote needs to start with health care.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin: “We in this country have faced some difficult times, and every time we’ve been at our worst, we’ve been able to hit a reset button and recover. And I hope, be it the rhetoric on the right or the left, that we can reset out of this.”
