Congratulations to the seniors! Don’t have a photo with everyone (missing Jayden from orch), but these kids are something special. We love you and will miss you, and the band room will always be a home for you.
Sydney, a jr violist @ JFK had an interesting thought this yr: what if schools received equitable funding for instrumental music? Fortunately, MCPS is working hard to create more balance, but seeing her learn through this process was truly eye opening. A+ job! #thekidsarealright
Check out my PSA https://t.co/ltE1bTaPWK for my @GSCNC Gold Award project. I advocated for equitable funding for music programs, w/ a focus on Downcounty schools. Thx @mocoboe & @MCPS for listening & responding to my questions. #MusicImproves... @JFKHS_Music
Principal Clarinet Stephen Williamson leads his family members—wife Jill (horn) and sons Ryan (horn), Connor (trumpet) and Matthew (tuba)—in an arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, which the CSO was scheduled to perform earlier this month.
Years ago, I visited my friend #MisterRogers to play this song. This is for the kids and their grown-ups who are at home together. Sing along with me! #songsofcomfort

We are happy to announce that JFK has been added as a MCPS meal service site. Monday-Friday, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., breakfast, lunch & dinner grab-and-go meals (and optional student enrichment resources) are available for pick up at our school.
A good distraction & memory for St. Paddy's Day! Concert Band played Lanigan's Ball, a wind piece comprised of 2 old Irish tunes, last year for the Spring Concert. The students had a blast and they still play it this year when warming up and practicing! 🍀🇮🇪
This is for the healthcare workers on the frontlines — the Sarabande from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3. Your ability to balance human connection and scientific truth in service of us all gives me hope. #songsofcomfort
How can Andy play his solo in Mahler's Third Symphony without the orchestra? Don't worry, Assistant Principal Trumpet René Shapiro comes to his rescue.

In these days of anxiety, I wanted to find a way to continue to share some of the music that gives me comfort. The first of my #SongsOfComfort: Dvořák – "Going Home”
Stay safe.
@kedomi@noonetoldme We received clarity yesterday afternoon. Grades are frozen for two weeks, and teachers are not to ask students to complete assignments, but some teachers likely already put up things up in google classroom. But the short answer for now is no.
Assistant Principal Trumpet René Shapiro was joined on stage this week by his daughter Tehya for our Baltimore County Public Schools' side-by-side performance! 🎺🎶
