Dear Sane America,
Gather 'round, you beautiful, normal, coffee-drinking patriots who still believe in basic competence and not turning every institution into a clown car. I need to tell you about the latest exhibit in the museum of "How the fuck did this person get this job?"
Meet Angie Báez. Forty years old. Former Executive Director of Community and Industry Engagement at JPMorgan Chase. She got fired this week because a viral video caught her at the Knicks championship parade doing the following: She walked up to one of those special limited-edition blue-and-orange Knicks trash cans on the street, dumped the entire contents onto the sidewalk like a feral entitled toddler and then stole the damn can. Walked off with it. Got on the subway with it. Peak New York trash behavior, literally.
Now, pause. Take a sip of that coffee. Because the part that will make you spit it out, is this: This walking disaster was a DEI executive at one of the biggest banks in the world. Let that sink in. While the rest of us were out here judging books by covers like normal humans with eyes, corporate America had this fine specimen in a corner office pushing "diversity, equity, and inclusion." First glance says "this thing looks like it argues with pigeons and loses." But somehow she was deciding who gets promoted, what trainings everyone has to sit through, and how the bank signals its virtue. The irony is so thick you could spread it on a bagel. DEI is supposed to be about inclusion? She literally excluded the trash from the can by yeeting it onto Broadway. Equity? She decided the special Knicks can belonged to her and only her. Inclusion? She included public property in her personal collection while leaving a pile of garbage for everyone else to enjoy.
They/them, she/her, it/its, whatever the fuck the current script says, the pronouns don't matter. The behavior does. This is the kind of person who gets elevated in the modern corporate DEI industrial complex: someone whose primary qualification appears to be showing up and not immediately setting the building on fire. JP Morgan did the only sane thing and showed her the door. Good for them. The rest of corporate America should take notes: when your "diversity hire" starts treating city property like it's the prize in a Cracker Jack box, maybe the diversity part was working a little too well and the competence part was on permanent vacation.
Sane America, this is your sign. The emperor has no clothes, the DEI emperor has no brain cells, and sometimes the trash takes itself out, or in this case, takes the trash can out. Stay vigilant. Keep your standards high. And for the love of God, if you see someone in corporate America who looks like they belong on the other side of the parade route barrier, maybe don't put them in charge of "inclusion." Yours in glorious, unapologetic reality, A fellow spectator who still believes in merit and not stealing garbage cans.
@ginamilan_ Between @espn and the @WNBA the white players have no chance. Have you ever seen a more stupid racist league? She brought them to a level they’ve never had and they hate her.
Major breakthrough when a Democratic AND Republican Senator both come out in favor of scrapping the cap on taxable income to guarantee Social Security’s long-term ability to pay 100% of benefits earned.
"The PGA of America is supposed to go back to Bethpage in 2033 with the PGA Championship. That should not happen. These people do not deserve a major championship."
"Maybe golf in its entirety needs to take the Augusta National model. No phones, no tolerance, no second chance."
Agree with @eamonlynch?
