@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey For sure, but again. That was only because of Sutter though, he had back to back 40 goal seasons in 90 and 91 Pre-Sutter, then never scored 40 goals again Post-Sutter. His back was completely fucked and it almost ended his career in 93
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey The butterfly really didn't affect him. He was still leading the league in assists in his final 2 seasons (1997/1998).
If dickhead Sutter doesn't fuck his back up in 1992, he'd arguably be just as dominant in the 90s as he was in the 80s
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey Gretzky was never known for defense dude. It really didn't matter because his offensive impact was like McDavid, Jagr and Lemieux combined. He could generate anything from sheer will lol.
Gretzky had his back fucked by Sutter in 92, that caused his downfall in goals/points wise
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey Yes, that outstanding offense is more reliable and is going to carry you to wins 99% of the time. Gretzky and Lemieux are the perfect examples of this, 99's entire 80s run and his bonus 93 playoff run encapsulate this statement.
@Lenski808 If Kuch goes crazy in his 30s and stacks up more hardware by time he's like 40, there really is no realistic argument that Ovi is a better player lol
@Lenski808 Ovi from 06-10 was something else, but what Kuch has done lately is otherwordly. 5 100pt seasons, 3 Rosses, 167 playoff points, 1 Hart (should've been 2). An arguable greater peak.
His game is so reliable on his IQ and playmaking that he is 100% certain to age well.
He was still PPG, but the last 2 years were tough team wise.
If Kuch can somehow bring his A game again with another 30+ point cup carrying playoff run (Tampa's good but it's Kuch's team respectfully), in his fucking 30s no less.
That would have to raise his all time ranking
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey Offensive production > 2 way Defense anyday
Gretzky was trash at defense, Kurri played the C role in the D-zone back in the 80s lol
But it obviously didn't matter because a huge offensive impact outweighs any bad defense
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey Okay you got me, but I did mention the higher scoring era of the 80s. Bossy played until 1987 and retired at 30. That alone inflates his PPG a fuck ton and it easily would've seen his PPG drop had he aged out.
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey Lol, more like it's pretty easy to rack up assists when you're arguably the greatest playmaking winger in history. Kuch is the complete package playmaking wise: deceptive, Quick, accurate, high IQ, can almost read 99% of defenses, forehand/backhand mastered.
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey He never scored 50 again because of his injuries lol. Pre-Injury Stamkos had acceleration and speed paired with a disgusting shot. After his injuries, he was just a pure triggerman just like Ovi and heavily relied on a playmakers. Also was a detriment 5v5 and PP merchant
@FireKerryCoombs@IdkHowToNameTBL@TBL_Hockey He elevated Stamkos who is a pure triggerman, still elite but injuries fucked him up and he's arguably overrated. Point is a 70 pt 2 way C at best w/o Kuch. He's definitely not overrated but Kuch 100% does way more of the damage with him.
