1. AssaultAssault means you threaten someone and make them fear for their safety. You do not need to touch the person. For example, raising a fist or throwing an object near someone is assault. The person must reasonably believe you will hurt them.
2. BatteryBattery is the physical follow-through. It happens when you make unwanted or harmful contact with someone else without their permission. The contact does not have to leave a mark or cause pain. Spitting on someone, poking them in the chest, or pushing them are all examples of battery.
