Prayers for all in the Texas Hillcountry and especially for those kids at Camp Mystic in Kerrville. I know this area well from my years in San Antonio and my heart is truly broken. #guadaluperiver#flashflooding
TD #3 has formed off the coast of South Carolina. Will likely become TS Chantal tonight before making a quick landfall later tomorrow. Slow strengthening is expected but it won’t have much time to strengthen significantly before landfall.
NHC has increased the chances of tropical development to 60% (medium) in the next few days but has shifted the area of concern to the southeastern U.S. coast. #meteorologist4thepeople#NHC#LOCAL10
NHC has increased the chances of tropical or subtropical development to 40% (medium) in the next 7 days. No indications to me yet that it’ll be anything strong. However, I’m expecting a lot of rain statewide (especially north & central Florida).
We take a quick break from posts about hurricane season to report that Bobby Bonilla Day came and went yesterday, with hardly any fanfare. Mets fans know, otherwise google it. #july1#chaching
Tuesday, July 1 Update: just letting you know there’s nothing new since yesterday, just a slight bump in chances of development to 30% this weekend. As usual, when the word “tropical” is attached to anything some think it’s time to put the shutters up. DO NOT overreact.
At 5PM Monday, NHC still gives low chances (20%) of tropical development up north by this weekend. Before everyone starts setting their hair on fire, running for the exits, and cancelling their 4th of July plans, I, your voice of reason, see nothing to be concerned about yet.
NHC says there’s a 20% chance of tropical or sub development somewhere from the eastern Gulf, Florida, or the southeastern U.S. by this upcoming July 4th weekend. From what I see right now the models are very lackluster on this but we’ll see if anything changes.
