Politics entered healthcare long ago, but I’ve never witnessed it on this level. Friday, my friend who is a NNP was eating lunch in the nurse’s break room.
The conversation went like this (according to my friend Nicole)

“Had some crazy right wing lunatics today with the stupid hat and all, decline all vaccines. As soon as I get back that dumb ass kid is getting his HepB vaccine and VitK. Fk these people.”

Nicole was paged to a delivery so her efforts were too late.

I have never cared who you’re politically associated with, what color your skin is, or what your job is.
Where has our humility and integrity gone? It was never, ever this bad.

She has been suspended pending further action. The problem was, most of those in the room agreed with her and laughed.

Never leave your newborn alone, even when in NICU. This is not a dig on the good nurses we still have or NICU, it just needs to be known that our profession has been highjacked with some deranged psychopaths.
