Gloria Steinem, the groundbreaking political activist, journalist, and feminist organizer, has died. This morning, representatives for Steinem announced on social media that the feminist trailblazer died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. She dedicated her life to social activism and was best known for co-founding the publication Ms. Magazine and several feminist organizations, including the Women’s Action Alliance and the National Women’s Political Caucus. Steinem was 92 years old. 🪽
I presided over the @LawSocietyofKe 2026 Annual General Meeting in Machakos earlier today. At the end of the meeting, I witnessed the swearing in of @ckanjama and the 2026-2028 Council, and handed over the instruments of the presidency to the 52nd President.
It has been an honour serving the Law Society of Kenya and the Country. I wish Senior Counsel and his team well in their tour of service.
This year’s CSW70 priority theme underscores the need to:
✔️ Eliminate discriminatory laws, policies and practices
✔️ Address structural and social barriers to justice
✔️ Strengthen inclusive and equitable legal systems
✔️ Center the voices of marginalized groups, including older women, women with disabilities, and survivors of violence.
During today's session of the @NCAJ_KE Retreat, I moderated a session on Enhancing the efficiency of Kenya’s criminal justice system. The panel focused on perspectives from Non-state actors on efficiency improvement and priority reforms for Kenya’s criminal justice sector.
The panel interrogated where exactly inefficiency emerges and which reforms would offer immediate impact. We also considered how legal services, victim protection, and witness support can be scaled sustainably to enhance administration of justice. Finally, we explored approaches to leverage programmes such us the UNODC Programme for Legal Empowerment and Aid Deliver (PLEAD), in Promoting the Rule of Law and Ensuring Access to Justice.
This @BBCAfrica documentary is heartbreaking and a serious indictment of systemic failure.
A failure by state institutions to protect the most vulnerable and to act swiftly and decisively.
Children as young as 12, are being trafficked, abused and discarded right here in Kenya!
Outrage is not enough. We need urgent justice and reform!
We demand all individuals and networks implicated in these trafficking rings be arrested and prosecuted! There should be zero protection for predators, regardless of their status.

Through continuous engagement with Members of Parliament, we’re pushing for the passing of the #MarriageBill2024
Because ending child marriage requires a multi-sectoral approach

I made an on-site visit to the Bo Courthouse today- a model-sexual offense court that is providing justice services to the people of Bo. It was great to have an in-person meeting with State Counsel Augustine Sheku and other staff of the Office of Attorney General and Minister of Justice. It is always fulfilling to see and hear about the interactions between justice sector actors and members of the communities they are there to serve.
This morning , I launched the long-awaited Strategic Guiding Framework on Anti-Corruption in the Justice Sector. Today marks the culmination of a critical and deliberate journey—one driven by our shared resolve to confront and root out corruption from the justice sector. This milestone is not just the end of a process, but the beginning of a bold new chapter in our collective commitment to integrity, accountability, and justice. I have long held the firm belief that the cancer of corruption can only be effectively addressed through a coordinated, inter-agency approach. The siloed methods we have employed in the past have not yielded the desired results. Today therefore marks the beginning of a new chapter in our collective quest to rid the justice sector of this pervasive vice.
Happy #IWD2025! ✨
This month, we’re sharing conversations on GBV across #Kenya. Kicking off our five-part series, we spotlight FGM in Kajiado, #Kenya, in collaboration with @phill_director, @Kambua, and @HopeBeyondKenya.
Together, we can #EndFGM.

It has been 30 years since the Beijing Platform for Action, yet we are still advocating for FGM and child marriage to be outlawed in all countries in #Africa.
We must continue to advocate for a total ban on FGM and child marriage in Africa.
#EndFGM#EndChildMarriage
Our focus in #Kenya has been on gender justice. Despite having progressive laws, rape, child marriage, FGM and sexual exploitation remain rampant.
We have more to do. We believe working together with our supporters & partners we are upto the task✊ #EndSexualViolence#EndFGM
The CUCs enhance the administration of justice within the respective courts’ jurisdictions by creating linkages amongst justice sector actors to engage and address cross-institutional challenges that adversely affect the efficient administration of justice and service delivery.
3 female bodies, have been recovered today from Kosovo, Kariobangi and Kiambu.
The Kariobangi body, we received a call from the first responders and unfortunately they sent me pictures of the body parts 😭 some of which were still in a sack. I will not share the pictures.
The increased rate of Femicide are an indication of the state failure to adequately address GBV.
