It’s always tough being the first band on in your class, but these kids were what we call “the measuring stick” today. 1st in Class A competition with the Outstanding General Effect award, as well. Two weeks until ISU!
Despite the change of conditions due to heat, the GEMB showed flexibility, patience and resilience and won 1st Place, “Best Music” and “Best General Effect” at the Lake Park Lancer Joust marching band competition.
Fun to get back into it after the first three game we were supposed to play were cancelled or changed due to weather. Good win for the home team! Also great to see 7 of our percussionists perform with the Crystal Lake Strikers Drumline in their first performance of the season.
Game 2 between the Juniors and the Seniors was a tough battle but the Juniors prevailed in the end. Thanks to all of our volunteer coaches and participants!
Off to a strong start at Lake Park today! High Achievement in Music, Visual, Percussion and Color Guard. First Place in class 1A. On the flip side, there’s a lot more to fix and be better at. On to Wheeling High School next Saturday.

We are excited to start highlighting our Jacobs band seniors today with percussionist Adara Nahornoff. She has been a dedicated member and leader of numerous performing ensembles at JHS and in the community. Her work ethic will continue to pay off. Good luck & thank you, Adara!
