Make no mistake—throwing folks experiencing homelessness in jail or fining them for sleeping outside only makes homelessness worse. Today's ruling sets a dangerous precedent for every American who has no choice but to sleep outside and the millions of families who are one missed paycheck away from homelessness.

In the face of this ruling, we must focus on housing, NOT handcuffs. I will continue the fight to bring more federal dollars to our Central FL community, like the millions of dollars I've brought home to create more affordable housing. But at the end of the day, it’s transformative solutions that will best crack the housing crisis, like my bill, which would end renter junk fees and credit checks in the rental process.
