@shay_guy Real talk, I have limited experience with any of these authors except Sanderson. So I’d probably go with Old Man’s War just to try Scalzi out and since it’s a smaller read than some of the others in there, then probably Sanderson. Work my way up the commitment scale.

Hot take: Gramma style recipe hoarding was a way to achieve authority and power in a time when those were rare and hard to come by but it makes no fucking sense in an era where being the one who spread a thing is how you get social power.

I *adore* Kamen Rider. All those themes about power being for protecting people I talked about? Not only are they there in KR, they’re even more potent, because KR doesn’t have a team, it has one or a few heroes.

I kind of let the core of this get away from me a bit. But to sum it up, Kamen Riders are heroes who faced darkness, who suffered, and want to be sure others don’t suffer as they did, facing a very human evil ramped up to levels digestible and fightable.
