🚨 Andy Burnham is setting out his vision for Britain: a “No 10 North”, more devolution, and a 10-year mission to reshape how the country is run.
Fine. Debate it. Scrutinise it.
But hang on - Labour was elected on its 2024 manifesto.
Since then we’ve had national digital ID plans, changes to jury trials, and now a potential new Prime Minister setting out a substantially different agenda.
If Andy Burnham wants a different agenda, the public deserves a General Election.
The news that Dame Penelope Keith has died at the age of 86 has devastated lovers of great British humour, to say nothing of Spectator readers.
The two are, after all, closely linked. Keith was that rare actress who was the lead in not one but two seminal sitcoms, The Good Life and To The Manor Born.
It would perhaps be an exaggeration to describe her performances as the aspirational Margo Leadbetter and the aristocratic Aubrey fforbes-Hamilton as showing thespian range. But there was no actress better at skewering the pretensions and absurdities of a certain kind of Englishwoman.
Even today, if you say of someone that they are a 'Penelope Keith type', it is shorthand for Middle England in excelsis – even if that type is vanishing far quicker than is desirable.

A 40-year-old man with 13 prior convictions for attacking women has been charged with murdering two vulnerable women and raping a third in just eight months in London. Simon Levy, described as a predatory serial offender, allegedly raped and nearly suffocated one victim, strangled another to death, and was released by police only to murder a third woman who suffered 83 injuries. All his alleged victims were highly vulnerable.
This man should never have been free to strike again after his history of sexual violence. The fact that he was released after the first killing and then allegedly went on to murder another woman exposes catastrophic failures in the justice system. Repeat sexual predators with long records of attacking women are not being removed from society for long enough. The result is more dead and traumatised victims.
Britain’s approach to dangerous repeat offenders is dangerously lenient. Courts and parole systems continue to give second, third and thirteenth chances to men who have already shown they are a serious threat to women. Vulnerable women — sex workers, the homeless, those with addiction or mental health issues — are left exposed because the system prioritises the rights of predators over the safety of potential victims.
This case is not an outlier. It is the predictable outcome of a justice system that has lost its nerve when dealing with sexual and violent crime. Every time a known offender is released early or given inadequate sentences, the risk is passed on to the next woman. The public has a right to demand that men with this kind of record are locked away for good or removed permanently.
Protecting women means treating serial sexual predators as the ongoing threat they are. No more revolving door justice. No more early releases for those who have already proven they will attack again. The safety of British women must come before the comfort of dangerous men.
With all the usual international suspects like Carney, Macron, Albanese and von der Leyen gushing in praise for Starmer it makes me even happier to see hm gone.
He has never fought for Britain's interests.
He proved himself to be a globalist fan boy.

We just forced a vote in Parliament to stop the Puberty Blocker trial.
The Government voted it down.
These children are perfectly healthy. They need our care and support - not to be experimented on with life-changing drugs.
Expertly argued by my colleague @drcarolinej
The “constant chatter” you detect is the sound of more than 100 schools closing because Britain - uniquely in Europe - now taxes education. Or maybe it’s the noise made by thousands of parents beggaring themselves to keep special needs kids in school. If this is what makes you proud, I’d be fascinated to know what makes you feel ashamed.
NEW:
Newly released police bodycam footage from just after the death of Henry Nowak, between an officer and murderer Digwa.
Digwa says: “But I’ve been racially attacked.” The officer replies: “I know, mate, I know,” and adds: “I’m not saying you’ve done anything, mate.”
They didn’t even handcuff him, even after they knew Nowak had been stabbed.
🚨NEW: Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has restricted Immigration Minister Mike Tapp’s access to official government documents and meetings, requiring her prior approval
I am apocalyptically angry about Labour's plan to import thousands and thousands more fake 'refugees' - from Sudan, Eritrea and other third world dumps through 'safe' routes.
The answer is quite obviously NO.
Stopping this cannot wait until 2029. It will be too late.
I have written an open letter to the Home Secretary opposing it - I have requested support from Reform, Conservative, Northern Irish and independent MPs.
Stating our opposition, and making it clear that anyone who arrives through this scheme will be deported - we need cross-party support to make this point. It is vital.
If enough MPs do it, we can stop it.
One has signed so far - Gavin Williamson. Fair play.
I will work with anyone to draw a deep line in the sand.
Reform, Tory, whoever. It doesn't matter.
Now is the time to put aside party politics and work together in parliament to ensure that we do not import an endless stream of third world scumbags into our country.
It feels like they're clearly trying to provoke us.
How on earth can Mahmood think that what the country wants is MORE 'asylum seekers'.
What we want is for the ones here illegally to be deported.
The country is heartily sick of this hopeless disaster of a government.
🚨 SICKENING: Whistleblower Adele Weir exposed a Rotherham grooming gang with at least 270 victims.
The council’s response? They told her never to refer to “Asian men” in her report… and sent her on a two-day equality and diversity course.
They punished the person trying to stop child rape - instead of the rapists.
This is how deep the rot went.
What do you make of this? 👇

Burnham’s coup is well underway.
Big speech today with no questions from journalists. No debate in Parliament. No scrutiny from MPs until September.
Power without accountability.
Funny how Burnham demanded a General Election in 2022, but not now.
We need a General Election.
Andy Burnham: coronation without representation. We are in an era when even the unconvincing facade of democracy is deliberately torn down. The social contract is no more and those assuming authority must rely on force and fear to maintain their positions. Dangerous for all.
🚨NEW: Supermarket giant Aldi has CONFIRMED that they DO NOT sell Halal meat 🇬🇧
“We ask all our farmers - whether they supply fresh meat or frozen - to stun their animals before slaughter”
Brilliant news - be like Aldi 👍
An engineered by election to accommodate him.
No process to elect him party leader.
No questions allowed from journalists.
No parliamentary scrutiny until September.
Something is very, very wrong about the installation of Burnham as our PM.
Bristol flag ban backfired badly.
Green Party led Bristol City Council announced that flying England flags, even during the football World Cup ‘could make migrants feel uncomfortable‘ and banned them.
The locals took a different view and thousands of England flags have appeared
Here’s Makerfield MP Andy Burnham leaving by a side entrance moments after his speech today. I think it is appalling that he would not take questions from us journalists. He will be made Prime Minister of our country three weeks today. More coverage and analysis at @GBNEWS.
