Worth remembering Amanda Spielman, Head of OFSTED, has never been a teacher. Her background is working in financial services, then going on to manage chains of Academy schools. Personally, I can empathise with teachers scared to teach in crowded classrooms with no PPE.

Christmas is always over commercialised and as you say how on earth will some cope. Maybe temporary legislation is needed on children's commercials at certain times like we have with junk food. It will be challenging, but we need to do all we can to support families.

Just a thought. Can we cancel all the Christmas adverts now? If parents are having to decide whether to eat or heat, how on earth are they going to cope when their children see ads for toys there is literally no money for?
