When the Eagles moved on from Kevin Patullo at OC, here were my initial top five candidates for the vacancy in Philadelphia:
1) ̶B̶r̶i̶a̶n̶ ̶D̶a̶b̶o̶l̶l̶
2) ̶T̶o̶d̶d̶ ̶M̶o̶n̶k̶e̶n̶ ̶
3) Kliff Kingsbury
4) ̶K̶e̶v̶i̶n̶ ̶S̶t̶e̶f̶a̶n̶s̶k̶i̶ ̶
5) Zac Robinson
It seems like only two remain in Kingsbury and Robinson. But an unexpected new name has potentially become available in Joe Brady.
The Eagles are clearly going through a thorough process and despite the negativity, I believe that there are still several solid candidates available.
🚨 MIKE ROWE WARNS AMERICA: “AI IS COMING FOR THE CODERS - THEY’RE NOT COMING FOR THE PLUMBERS”
Mike Rowe just said what hasn’t been said out loud after 15 years of pushing “learn to code” as the safe path.
“We’ve been telling kids for 15 years to learn to code… well, AI is coming for the coders. They’re not coming for the welders. They’re not coming for the plumbers. They’re not coming for the electricians.”
Rowe said the scale of the shortage became clear at a conference in Aspen, where BlackRock's Larry Fink said the U.S. will need 500,000 electricians in the next few years.
He then pointed to a more immediate problem. Groups involved in building nuclear powered submarines for the U.S. Navy are struggling to find welders and electricians fast enough to meet demand.
“They need 80 to 90 thousand right now. These are our submarines. Our aircraft carriers are no longer the point of the spear. They’re vulnerable. Our submarines matter, and these guys have a pinch point because they can’t find welders and electricians to get them built.”
He said the issue extends well beyond defense.
“The automotive industry needs 80,000 collision repair technicians.”
And energy is even harder to pin down.
“Energy... I don’t even know what the number is. I hear 300,000. I hear 500,000.”
When asked where the workers are, Rowe’s answer was blunt.
“I know where they are. They’re in the eighth grade.”
Rowe said he’s heard the same concern from governors, executives, and industry leaders all across the country.
“There is a clear and present freakout going on right now.”
The jobs people were told to ignore may be the ones the country can’t function without.
Did we push too many people toward jobs that can be automated and away from the ones we actually need?
Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵
