Meet Christo Wiese, the businessman who helped build Africa’s retail giant.
In 1979, he acquired an 8-store chain for just R1 million and transformed it into Shoprite Holdings — Africa’s largest retailer.
Today, Shoprite operates more than 3,600 stores across the continent, employs over 160,000 people, and generated R256 billion in revenue in 2025.
Its brands include Checkers, Usave, OK Furniture, Medirite, and Computicket.
A retail empire serving millions of Africans every day … 🙌🏽
@LankyObserver Dangote has a powerful team behind him, I don't think it's correct to say he would have failed in telecommunications because he is not an engineer. The refinery venture he has built is far more complex than the telecom business. Research more on the Dangote refinery.
Good to see Zambians testing their pockets💪💰 happy to see vibrant Oscar Kaluba’s Muleka investments k65M bid & Lungowe Lutangu at k90M, Mr Chewe at k80M, Mr Phiri at K89M etc
Once you start studying the greats and picking up on their good habits. Something in you shifts. You become super aware that you were never an average person. Everything starts to connect as to why you’ll never be an ordinary person.
Dear youngster, as you go around looking for capital, please be careful who you take money from. Finance at every level will cost you something in return, and sometimes, that can be your soul.
@Takunachola He gave out important information, he is the right man for the job. I can safely say that, with less negative political interference, he can change the shape of ERB and ultimately the energy sector.
Last night, I was out watching soccer with a friend. Crossing a street going over to a pub, came into this girl (looked about 28), dead drunk. She was alone, crying.
Begged to be taken home.
My friend wouldn't be bothered.
So I ordered a Yango and accompanied her to her house.
@FMwenge Is this Ambassador. Kanyama or his account is hacked? I have tried so hard to understand what he is talking about but I still can't 3 days after lol
