Visited GMC Handwara to meet the students who met with an accident. My thanks to the doctors and the paramedics who have been working tirelessly.
Thankfully all the students admitted in GMC Handwara at the moment, are safe.
My prayers for their recovery.
Two students who had been referred to Srinagar have lost their lives. May Allah grant them Jannat.
After closely tracking the entire J&K Budget 2025 session—through media, Assembly records & ground inputs—my top-performing legislator is Mr. @sajadlone . Here’s why he stands out at No. 1. A detailed thread🧵below.
(Series on other legislators to follow in the coming days) 1/13
Is this what people of Jammu and Kashmir get when we remind National Conference of their Promise for reversing undemocratic events of August 2019. Honble MLA Pahalgam showing the future to People on Day 1 of Assembly.
#WATCH | 👇We brought the resolution to demand Rollback of #Article370,35A,declaring reorganization act totally null, demand of #statehood and unconditional condemnation of 5 August 2019 act of Government Either NC should support us or bring in resolution in same terms: @sajadlone told reporters outside Assembly and added that ruckus created by @JKNC_, @BJP4JnK today gives an impression of "fixed match" between them.

#Watch: Amid the chaos in the assembly, MLA Handwara @sajadlone and @BJP4JnK members clash on the floor of the House
The scuffle ensued after BJP members tried to snatch a poster from Sheikh Khurshid seeking restoration of Article 370.
Heartfelt condolences to the family of @MirwaizKashmir on the passing away of Mirwaiz Mohammad Ahmad, son of the Muhajir-e-Millat and Mufasir-e-Quran, Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah.
I had the chance to meet Mirwaiz Mohammad Ahmad sahib. A perfect gentleman. And a pious soul.
May Allah grant him Jannat.
Handwara hospital is without water for the last three days. Apparently the water pipes have been damaged due to human error.
The human error apparently has been commited by humans belonging to a department different than the department which maintains and manages water supply.
And the two departments belonging to the same government cannot decide who will repair the error and restore water supply.
The patients are using the bathroom facilities of the local mosques.
Can @SudanAyushi please intervene and get the water supply restored.
Extremely sad news coming in. Devinder Singh Rana is no more.
It is hard to believe that a great human being, and an even greater friend is no more. He was so full life.
My thoughts with the bereaved family at this terrible, irreplaceable loss. May they muster the courage and strength to bear this loss.
May the departed soul rest in peace.
Why should they rub salt into the wounds of the people of J and K. First they relegate the politically most empowered state in India to a UT. And now they have the audacity to celebrate it, commemorate it.
The elected government should stay away from all such commemorations which disdainfully showcases the collective servitude of the people of J and k.
UT status either signifies that the people of Kashmir are incapable of running their affairs. Or that they cannot be trusted to run the affairs of J and K. The onus is on the central government to give an answer and tick the right box.
And instead we should remember this day as the day of disempowerment.
It is a humble appeal to the elected government, to stop taking the knee in Delhi. And stop beating drums of triumphalism. There is no triumph.
The people of J and K are the ultimate losers and they are being pushed to the brink by these commemorative events, which in essence are events of humiliation.
Welcome reverting academic session up to class 9, back to
End of year exams in November.
This will have to backed up by extending it to class 10, 11, class 12. That is where it matters the most.
Good that a wrong decision has been reversed.
The senior most politician in J and K until the other day —-by virtue of his utterances came across as a right wing die hard Kashmiri nationalist, a pacifist.
And of course all others were traitorous etceteras.
Not even a month has passed that his party came to power. And now after assuming power.
He comes across as a right wing die hard Hindutva soldier.
What distance the senior leader has traversed in a mere 22 days.
God bless Kashmir.
Here comes the mother of all U-TURNS.
Dr Farooq sahib the self proclaimed pacifist in the last five years, has incessantly advocated dialogue with Pakistan for resolution.
And now comes the shocker. This pacifist after winning the election and after some shawl diplomacy and beggary — has overnight become a war-monger.
He now advocates war as an option.
Not a shocker really. He advocated bombing of the neighbouring country, way back.
What has been shocking how could Kashmiri people actually believe that this family would not betray this time, given they had a history of betrayals.
The Union government should understand that containing violence should not be misunderstood as defeating violence.
Far too long all central governments have believed in management. That has resulted in periodic lulls of containment of violence.
This management has included Pre scripting election results without resorting to rigging. And the current election seems to be a victim of same management.
Time for engagement with the people of Kashmir. They are your biggest assets. Mark my words. Only they can defeat violence.
Defeating violence is a blend of operational measures and structural measures. Operational measures of course is the domain of the security establishment.
Structural measures mean the societal war against violence. Unless and until the Kashmiri society does not unambiguously stigmatise violence, it can never be defeated.
And for that you have to engage them. And taking 370 away. Belittling them by relegating them to a UT.
Preselecting their leaders by creating a fake opposition during elections. And engaging in a war of words with a specific party to help them in one region and help their party in other region.
All these measures are antithetical to the concept of engagement.
You have done enough management. So have governments before you.
Give engagement a chance. Embrace the people of Kashmir. They are the real warriors to defeat violence, not laboratory bred rats — whose very survival is based on laboratory conditions.
Irrespective of the political differences that we have here amongst us, the union government needs to move fast on some issues.
Delay of even a moment in granting statehood is a sin against the people of J and K.
Statehood is our right not charity that the union government will think upon or ponder. Why should they delay it. Why did they take it away in the first place.
And may I ask the Supreme Court that in disposing off the petition on statehood, there is one question which they left unanswered. Was the relegation of a state to UT within the realm of law or outside the realm of law. Why didn’t they answer this question. They did not endorse relegation lest it becomes a precedence and yet we are still without a state.
In the interim until we get a state, the CM of J and K should be an inherent part of all meetings related to security. The local inputs in strategising on security are indispensable. Whosoever the CM is— the people of J and K have voted in huge numbers. And the UT status should not be used as an excuse to exclude the government from vital issues. The CM should be a part of all deliberations. Exclusion of the CM is tantamount to humiliating the entire electoral exercise.
And an unsolicited word of advice for our CM. Wish you had not gone too far castigating everybody, accusing every one of colluding with BJP. That concept of untouchability, That self righteous drift and now a glorified cheerleader. That is a total comedown.
We all know an elected CM has to work with centre. They have to go and meet the PM or other ministers. But there is a difference between constitutional duties and cheerleading.
