Because they’d never be able to justify paying him that money based on his usage. He was a 1350 yard receiver while getting targeted 36th most in the league. The year before when he was a 1015 yard receiver his targets were pretty identical. I’m not paying someone close to $30m’s per year if that’s his usage. The guys that make that kind of money get 150+ targets per year.

An important note:

Even if Aiyuk applies for reinstatement, the NFL will NOT grant it as long as the player is actively violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

One of the conditions violating that policy? Having an active arrest warrant, or evading a lawful arrest.
