Today, I signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law. It does so much of what we've fought to make happen for years like lowering costs and proving our government can work for working folks.

Legislators & stakeholders will present their creative ideas & solutions about #pension reform before #VT House Gov Ops from 9am-12:30pm today. Tune in to watch and learn more on YouTube: https://t.co/xmlrm9Kejf #vtpoli
Testimony from our JT Fiscal Office likened a wealth tax to using a "thimble in the ocean" to resolve a $5.6 billion #unfundedliability. All possible solutions are on the table, including major #governance#reform. #VTLegislature doesn't control investments made, boards do.
While there was #pensions#underfunding by #VT decades back, in last 12 yrs state has contributed faithfully each yr to pay down unfunded liabilities by 2038 - paying nearly $1 billion into the system over past 5 years. This yr's pymt: $300m + 1x $150m, up from $200m last yr
We are working to save the #VT public #pensions system. On its present course it will likely fail, leaving teachers & state employees w/o retirement savings. We have an opportunity to make a sizable investment with #structuralreform to ensure a #pension system for the future.
With $12.5 million in state and federal funds, H.171 will #redesign#childcare subsidies to help more low & middle-income families, update the IT system that supports this program, and invest in the #earlychildhood#workforce through scholarships and student loan repayment.
A WINTER FOOD DISTRIBUTION EVENT will be available to the public on Wednesday, December 30 at 12:00 noon in the Champlain Elementary parking lot. Anyone in need is welcome and encouraged to come. Please share with your friends and family!

I’ll go ahead: VTDigger in their candidate profile series mentioned how each candidate looked and dressed- men and women both. This is common. But maybe, we don’t need to talk about women’s appearances at all. How does it help voters learn about these human beings?
Wishing you well, Louie! And thank you for standing with millions of women who don’t want you coming between them and decisions they make with their doctor. How about this: you stay out of their doctor’s office and we stay out of yours.
The only way to reduce all risk is to quarantine completely. But, that is a big ask and difficult for most people. Instead, think about how you can reduce harm. This graphic is a helpful index of some activities from least to most risky.

The Legislature appropriated $5 million for women- and minority-owned businesses impacted by the COVID-19 economic shutdown. TODAY is the day to apply for up to $50,000 in grant funding (money you don't have to pay back) to support your business.
UVM researchers analyzed 6 months of legislative coverage from @vtdigger and @sevendaysvt and found that men are quoted more than women over a period of 3 years. Digger quoted women 42% of the time, Seven Days 44%.

The Coronavirus Relief Fund bills-H.966, H.965 & S.351-landed on the Gov's desk yesterday after the LG & I signed them on Monday. We all need the Governor to sign these bills and get the money out to Vermonters as quickly as possible #vtpoli 📷 1st Asst Clerk Rebecca Silbernagel
There’s still time to fill out your census! About half of all Vermonters have responded so far. If we don’t fill out the census #VT will lose federal funds needed for infrastructure, school lunches, hospitals and more. Call 844-330-2020 or go to the Census website. #Census2020
