I resigned for the chair of chemistry at the Jardin des Plantes.

So my career continues, from professor of chemistry, I became professor of physics at the Sorbonne from 1808 to 1832

I became a demonstrator to A. F. Fourcroy at the École Polytechnique in 1802, and 7 years later, I became professor of chemistry.

But 3 years afterward I transferred to the École des Ponts et Chaussées and became C. L. Berthollet’s assistant.

....... so I have to avoid conscription by the time of entry to the École Polytechnique
