The Shelby Whippets used a dominant rushing attack to take sole possession of first place in the MOAC taking care of Ontario 41-7.

It was a battle of state ranked unbeatens at the Whippet Athletic Complex in what many called the game of the night in the Northern part of the state, but the Whippets would run away over their conference rival.

The Division 4 #4 Whippets (8-0) racked up 311 rushing yards and 431 total offensive yards with Senior quarterback Michael Shepherd doing most of the work with 211 yards on the ground and three scores. He also added 120 yards through the air and two more touchdowns with Brady Bowman hauling in 4 of Shepherd's 7 completions for 77 yards and a score.

The Division 3 #8 Warriors (7-1) could not get much going offensively as Shelby held them to under 150 while limiting the Ontario powerful rushing attack to only 17 yards.

Gavin Miller did end the night for the Warriors with 117 yards passing which included a 37-yard touchdown strike to Cardae Brown.

Shelby clinched a first-round bye in the postseason with the victory giving them two weeks to fine tune their gameplan ahead of the second season while despite the loss, Ontario remains in second in Division 3 Region 10 with a good chance of clinching a bye if they were to win their final two games against Highland and River Valley.

A statement victory for undefeated Shelby puts the 7-0 Whippets all alone atop the MOAC standings with a 52-14 win over Clear Fork.

The Shelby offense exploded in the opening quarter, putting 26 points on the board with Brady Bowman accounting for a touchdown on both sides of the ball. Sam Gwirtz followed up a 60-yard interception return TD by Bowman with a lengthy fumble recovery TD to start the 2nd Qtr, and the Whippets continued to pour it on with a 51-yard Brayden Devito TD run, and Bowman hauling in a 65-yard pass for a score to stun the Colts, who trailed 45-7 at the half.

Bowman found the end zone for the fourth time in the game just seconds into the 3rd Qtr, breaking loose for an 80-yard TD grab to put the game on ice. Clear Fork junior QB Marcus Hoeflich had a pair of rushing touchdowns on the night, with the second coming in the closing minutes for the final score of the game.

Devito finished the night 9-14 passing for 278 yards and 4 TD's (all to Bowman), while rushing for 131 yards on 8 carries with 2 scores. Bowman hauled in 6 catches for 230 yards and 4 TD's.

Next up for Shelby (7-0, 4-0) is a trip to face Ontario (4-3, 2-2) while Clear Fork (5-2, 3-1) looks to bounce back in their final home game against Highland (2-5, 1-3).
