Today, September 29, 2026, we take a decisive step to fix Accra’s congestion. As Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, I have authorized the Contra Flow Arrangement for the Ayalolo BRT.

For too long, gridlock has strangled our economy and stolen time from commuters. From 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, we are reclaiming designated sections of the Kasoa, Adenta, and Amasaman corridors.

By allowing our authorized BRT buses to travel against the normal flow of general traffic during peak hours to ensure they bypass the gridlock. This will drastically improve reliability, cut journey times, and ease the pressure from private vehicles.

We ask for the cooperation of all motorists and the strict enforcement of the MTTD. Accra must move again.
