#BehindthePhotoSeries On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center fell. This was a traumatic day that will be remembered and felt for many years. There are not many photos of people whom have lost their lives from that day. Here is The Falling Man.

@HotshotWake This is the difference between fire suppression and fire mitigation. The in the US fire suppression is common practice, issues that arise with this practice is that it allows bush and undergrowth to happen which eventually contributes to the devastating fires seen in the west.

4pm CDT 30 May - #Hurricane#Agatha has made landfall just west of Puerto Angel, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
Since record keeping began in 1949, this is the strongest hurricane to make landfall in May along the Pacific coast of Mexico.
Congrats to @yamphoto for winning a Pulitzer Prize for his photography coverage in Afghanistan when the US pulled out. Sobering and raw stories, but ones that we needed to see.
Lots of journos asking about coming to #Ukraine - if logistics aren’t already in place it will very difficult to function - no cars to rent, translators and drivers who aren’t booked are leaving with their family, hotels no new rooms & shutting down, harder to find supplies/food.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, out-of-context images and videos have circulated widely across social media platforms. Here are some of the claims my team at @USATODAY has debunked. 🧵
Useful live video feeds to monitor but it is still very important to CHECK for context and confirmation of anything you see in them: #Ukraine

Worried sick for my photojournalist friends currently on assignment photographing in eastern Ukraine right now. They are putting their lives on the literal line to tell the story. Their photos will tell a thousand stories and record history.
This is @CNN: the international correspondents covering the conflict as it unfolds for the global community. 🙏 for the safety of my colleagues, the ones you see on camera and the ones operating behind the scenes. #WATCH#CNN
Usual warning to VERY CAUTIOUS about sharing any videos or images from Ukraine that have not been verified. I am already seeing old videos being distributed as if they are from today. There will be videos and images but let the professionals do their jobs before you share.
There are scores of journalists — reporters, photographers, videographers + many others — documenting history in Ukraine right now, including those working for @AP. We are so thankful for their eyes and ears. I am not a religious person, but I pray in my own way for their safety.
