In my opinion column for @TheOklahoman_ today, I argue that our response to the current human displacement crisis should be shaped by our best values, which include welcoming strangers, protecting the vulnerable, and defending the dignity of all people
I'm offended that my government is accusing churches of sheltering murderers
In any case, the guidance revoked today already would have allowed ICE to raid a church in that unlikely instance
The real effect of this change is that people will be afraid to go to church on Sunday
The White House has paused refugee resettlement for at least 90 days but has pledged to evaluate the program and potentially restart it. For the Church, here are some important facts about refugee resettlement and why it is a very good thing—@WorldRelief
Kori Hall and I were blessed to interview @MatthewSoerens@koobxwm and @eric_costanzo about how the church should respond to our global displacement crisis on the Seeds of Peace Podcast. This is a time for Christians to learn, love, speak, and act.

I'm thankful to the field teams of @RepFrankLucas and @RepBice for meeting with faith leaders yesterday to discuss immigration reform. We can secure our borders while upholding our best values: welcome the sojourner, protect vulnerable human lives, and honor family integrity.
Augustine confessed, "I lived in misery, like every man whose soul is tethered by the love of things that cannot last and then is agonized to lose them."
I’m getting fired up about teaching the book of Nahum to our youth in Sunday school. Hot take: We should teach our teenagers the hard, challenging parts of the Bible, and not just the easy, feel-good bits.
The longer I live, the more I feel the weight of 4 realities:
1. The love of Jesus is deeper and stronger than I can comprehend.
2. The wisdom and power of scripture are beyond description.
3. Evil's destructive power should not be underestimated.
4. God's goodness will triumph.
Government leaders asked churches and nonprofits to do the work of welcoming our immigrant and refugee neighbors. We have done that. But congress has abdicated its constitutional responsibility to fix our broken system. Thank you @SenatorLankford for trying. Please don’t give up.
We obviously need a safe and secure border. We also need a pathway to residency for the Afghani neighbors whom we welcomed as refugees. And we need a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients who make our communities stronger every day.
"Theology is needed because it stands present on the scene declaring that things are not now the way they're supposed to be. And an essential component of the mission of the church is to reckon with this reality in light of the healing that God will effect..." -Jason Sexton
The only way to fix our broken system is to put people and principles over politics. Immigrants are people. Refugees are people. We must honor the sacred dignity of their lives regardless of the proximity of the next election. Thank you @SenatorLankford for your integrity.
I’m thankful @SenatorLankford keeps working to uphold the constitution, honor the dignity of all people, and bring real solutions to our broken immigration system. We can secure the border in smart ways while honoring the sacred lives of immigrants and refugees.
For years, @SenatorLankford has endured unreasonable attacks because he persistently seeks to uphold the dignity of immigrants and refugees while also securing the border. He is showing real moral leadership. We need to pray for and support him in the work.
I’m thankful that @SenatorLankford continues to provide moral leadership aimed at seeking wise, just, and compassionate solutions to our ongoing immigration crisis. May God help congress to pass meaningful legislation that honors human dignity. https://t.co/1pHyCrD5xy
The Neighbors Conference is a great opportunity to receive biblical teaching and practical training on how to love our neighbors well. It’s also an opportunity to connect with other Christ followers who want to be instruments of God’s compassion towards the most vulnerable.
