Had my students read "Epilepsy and Me" (https://t.co/FQDfULUsKE) by @DisabilityStor1 -- by far their favorite work of the semester. Provoked thoughtful discussions about illness, prejudice, violence, and body politics.
@JasonAHiggins No worries. It often takes a year+ for reviews to work their way through the pipeline. And it can be tough to get reviewers for very valid reasons (no pay, they often don't "count" on RPT, etc.). All that said, I have learned so much from reviewing books. Folks-read this book!
As a graduate of the U (that is the U of Minnesota), I'm not surprised Minnesotans had a governor like this in the first place. It has been nearly two decades since I finished my PhD in Minneapolis and I still miss it.
As an upper-Midwest kid who grew up around a bunch of scrappy, kind-hearted, no-bullshit progressives, I am very pleased that it's Tim Walz. This is a tradition that too rarely makes it to the national stage, and I am ready for it.
Other contributors include Kevin Levin on Black Confederates, @JM_Thompson on country music, @DrJen_Murray on military base names, me on Dylann Roof, Brett Barnett on the Confederate flag, Steve Phan on Camp Nelson, @scotthancockOT on BLM and Gettysburg & more still...
Teaching my course on The Body in American Culture online for the first time. Any suggestions for short readings or videos?
In person, I usually teach books like Gay's Hunger, Schweik's The Ugly Laws, Byrd and Tharpe's Hair Story, something about military bodies....
Shot in the dark: does anyone know an expert who can tell me what happens when a person's throat is slit?
Writing a book about a murder in 1940s Mississippi.... #history#crime

@jcbecker@PGCbasketball I have no idea who you are or why you decided to credit me with this quote (I assume it was a typo), but you have the wrong @JMKinder. Just letting you know.
