Taste attended @Screen_QLD's In the Frame to discuss creativity in the age of AI. We highlighted the importance of protecting IP before amplifying it with AI.

Artists are done being the invisible engine of AI.

This week, UK’s Technology Secretary, Liz Kendall publicly aligned with the creative sector. Declaring that artists “rightly want to get paid for the work that they do”.

• She pledged a “reset” of the debate between the creative sector and AI firms, emphasising that both need to thrive.
• She reiterated a long conversation that stems from a need for artists to know if their work has been used to train AI models.
• The creative industries at large have stressed the government must rebuild trust and act immediately.

Back in May, over 400 British artists; including Elton John, Dua Lipa and Paul McCartney signed a letter demanding transparency and rights when their work is used to train AI models.

At Taste, we believe that creators should be empowered by this technology rather than bypassed. This reflects one of our core pillars: Access. Not access as in mere consumption, but access as in authorship, co-creation and exposure to AI models.

When creators reclaim agency over their IP and utilize AI to amplify their offering… the possibilities are infinite.
