It seems to me that we have known each other for a very long time. I trust him with all my secrets.

It seems to me that he has been by my side every single day of my life — and only because of that have I so easily weathered all my disappointments and losses, come out dry from the deepest waters, and never stopped laughing.
He knows every crack in my soul.
He knows every thought of mine before I even manage to think it. He is strong. He is radiant. He is wise. He is my best friend.

Next to him I feel like a little bird that has found its way home in his hands.
Every conversation with him is a revelation from a new life. And every time I see his face, my heart fills with such tenderness that it seems I’m about to just burst into tears like a fool.

But instead I melt into a smile and tenderly kiss those beloved lips. And I am bursting with pride that the best man in the world is by my side — and that next to him I can be the best woman.

Respect is the most important thing in love, because it keeps love from becoming power.

Respect says: you are not my property and not my project. You are a separate person. I can be close to you without breaking you and without disappearing for your sake.

That is why love with respect can endure fatigue, illness, distance, and years.

Without it, love sooner or later starts demanding and humiliating — even when it calls that feeling.

When John and I first met, I looked through all of his photos and asked: why do you have different hair lengths, from a stylish short cut to long hair below the shoulders?

He said he wears different lengths. Yesterday I asked if he had gotten a haircut yet (I like the short cut on him the most — it suits him incredibly well).

He said not yet, sent a picture and wrote, “well, this is how I look in the morning when my mop is messy and uncombed” 😂.

I looked closely and… I liked it. He looks very handsome and sweet with that thick head of unruly hair, full of cowlicks and curls.

So I decided it would be fair to make an image of him the way he looks right now.❤️
