If people who have never heard about Christianity don't go to hell, why spread it?

Heard that if you never discover christianity in your life, you get some sort of chance in the afterlife to prove yourself, or get the option to learn about it and make a decision there. If that's the case, and everyone is born a sinner and it accumulates even after you get baptized, what is the point of learning about it at all? Just seems like a surefire way to eternal damnation for people if they make the "wrong" decision. Seems like you should just be able to live your life however you want and then get the benefit of the doubt later?
