Jakub Dobes of the Habs had a .910 save percentage in the AHL last year at age 23.
This year Connor Ungar, then 23, in the Oilers system had a .923 save percentage in the AHL.
The Habs promoted Dobes. The Oilers sent Ungar to the ECHL after his AHL stint.
Since you’re not willing to do your homework, let me help you. 🧵
Evan Bouchard isn't just a "power play specialist." He put up 95 points, but only 33 (7G, 26A) came on the man advantage. More importantly? All 21 of his goals were scored against a goaltender—zero empty netters.
Let’s talk defense. Bouchard’s Expected Goals Against (xGA) is in the elite tier (top 15% of NHL D-men). He isn't giving up high-quality looks; the puck is going in because he’s dealing with a .888 on-ice SV% while guys like Hughes and Makar benefit from .910+ goaltending.
The best defense is never having to play in your own zone. Bouchard ranks in the 87th percentile for Defensive Zone time—meaning the Oilers spend significantly less time defending when he’s on the ice compared to the league average.
He’s elite in high-danger prevention and top 25% in shot blocking. Facts matter. You can't push a narrative using a snippet while ignoring the context of the whole story. #Oilers #NHL #BouchBomb
@ReaganPodelec@TimM799611 Completely disappeared in playoffs. Not sold that we cant find a better option or role player. I would let him walk especially for the money he will want
@TopTierPucks@regwald@JCourvilleLynch@zach_20007 To be fair, part of the reason for this, is because Bouchard is typically glued to McDavid's line at evens.
In no way as that a shot at him but on most nights, Connor gets that gig upfront and the 5 man unit follows.
With that said, Evan has exceled in the role.
NHL DoPS head George Parros responding to Connor McDavid's call for an examination of the suspension process: “We sweat over these decisions and pour over these decisions every night, all season long. We have a process in place that’s consistent, and we have a team that works for me, and together with me, that evaluates all these plays. A very experienced team, a veteran team. Guys that have been there since the beginning of the department. Not to mention all the former players that have a large set of experiences playing NHL games, accolades. Some of the best guys that have played the game work for this department help make decisions. So, our process, I feel very confident in. We’ve got great guys who make these decisions, and I think the players should be confident in this team to do so.”
@TuckerYellowLab@2MuttsHockeyPod@Bob_Stauffer@EdmontonOilers@Avalanche@NHL I thought the same for celebrini vs mcd points in first 132GP. Who the hell compares stats at game 132? Lol its cherry picked because he is ahead. Celebrini is soooo damn good tho i dont really care just funny when they do that
Seeing lots of oosts stating Makinnon is better than McDavid. Comparing team awards (his cup) instead of comparing 2 players swsrds
