A man was sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing millions.

Two years into his sentence, he received a letter from his elderly father:
“My dear son,
You left me old and sick. It’s planting season, and I have no one to help me plow the field and plant maize . I wish you were here. God willing, we will see each other again.”

The son replied:
“Dear Father,
Please do not dig up the field. That is where I buried all the money I stole. Wait until I am released.”

Since prison letters were monitored by the guards, the message immediately caught attention.

The very next morning, more than 100 prison officers arrived at the old man’s farm and dug up the entire field searching for the hidden money. But after hours of digging, they found absolutely nothing.

A few days later, the son sent another letter to his father:

Dear father,
I hope you appreciated the help I managed to give you from prison.
Now you can go ahead and plant your maize.”

Morale of the story: you can be useful from anywhere.
