Olise & Raphinha were in the PL 2 years ago. Nobody called them Ballon d'Or level.
Raphinha was fighting relegation at Leeds. Olise was a Palace YouTube comp.
They leave England and suddenly both are world class, 30 G/A at Barca & Bayern.
Why? PL is too competitive.
In Spain/Germany you have 3 hard games a year. In England you have Brentford away, then Newcastle away, then Chelsea. No free games. Your numbers must drop.
Ronaldo's best in England was 42 goals. In Spain he did 60+ for 4 straight seasons. Same player.
McTominay was "not good enough" at Utd, goes to Italy and becomes Serie A Player of the Season.
Put Saka & Mbeumo in Ligue 1 and they look like Yamal & Doue. Bring Doue to PL and he looks like "a youngster who needs time."
And this is part of the reason I will NEVER rate Messi in GOAT Debate.
He spent his entire prime in La Liga where he had 35 free games a season to pad stats. He never tested himself in the EPL where you have to play a strong opponent every week.
Ronaldo did it in England, became the best in the world, and then still did 60+ in Spain. Messi never left his comfort zone. He went to Ligue 1 when he was 32 and even there he struggled.
You can't be the GOAT if you avoided the hardest league in the world your whole career.
PL makes good players look average. Other leagues make average players look like gods.

The Biggest Robbery in Football History: Messi's 2021 Ballon d'Or
The 2021 Ballon d'Or won by Lionel Messi will go down as the biggest robbery in football history.
At club level, Messi achieved absolutely nothing that year. He was humiliated and knocked out of the Champions League like a helpless child against Kylian Mbappe, in a 1-4 loss at the Camp Nou. He did not even win La Liga Player of the Season. That award went to Jan Oblak, when Atletico Madrid won the league.
It was the same season Luis Suarez proved he did not need Messi. After being forced out of Barcelona, he took La Liga with him to Atletico Madrid and led them to the title.
Individually, Messi was only the eighth top scorer in the world in 2021, behind all the main strikers in the world. That includes Robert Lewandowski, who had one of the greatest goal ratios ever recorded in football history, scoring 41 league goals in just 29 games to break Gerd Muller's 49-year-old Bundesliga record.
So how did Messi win the Ballon d'Or?
Because Argentina won the Copa America and Messi scored four goals. Something which has never led to a Ballon d'Or before in football history.
The Copa America is a tournament Argentina have won 16 times, a tournament where you literally spawn into the final. The format exposes its level.
What makes it worse is that three of Messi's four goals came in the group stage. A group stage with five teams where four qualify. These are literally international friendlies. There was zero chance Argentina would not qualify from that group.
In the entire knockout stage, Messi scored only one goal, a free kick against Ecuador in the quarter-final to make it 3-0 when the game was already won.
Then in the final against Brazil, the biggest game of his international career up to that point, he was the lowest rated player on the pitch, with a 6/10 rating from Goal, dropping a stinker while Angel Di Maria had to carry him once again with the winning goal.
And yet, somehow, the media still gave him the Ballon d'Or.
