Diomande joining Madrid changes the entire profile of their attack.
Real Madrid now have the most explosive front three in world football. Not just because of pace, but because every defender now has a different problem to solve.
Vinicius is arguably still the best 1v1 winger in the world. Mbappe is the most devastating goalscorer in transition. Diomande brings verticality, unpredictability, relentless running and directness from the right. There isn’t another attack in Europe with 3 players capable of turning a harmless possession into a clear-cut chance in just a few seconds.
The biggest tactical benefit, however, is what Diomande does for Madrid’s right side.
For the last couple of seasons, Madrid’s attack has leaned heavily towards the left because that’s where Vinícius naturally operates. Even after Mbappe’s arrival, there were moments where both players drifted into similar zones, making Madrid easier to defend than they should have been. Opponents could overload one side of the pitch, knowing the opposite flank wasn’t consistently carrying the same threat.
Diomande changes that completely.
He naturally stretches the pitch on the right, forcing full-backs to stay wide instead of tucking inside to help against Vinicius. That immediately creates more space between the opposition’s defensive lines. Defenders can no longer shift across to double-team Vini because leaving Diomande isolated is equally dangerous.
Making Madrid become impossible to overload.
If you double Vinicius, Diomande has space.
If you help on Diomande’s side, Vinicius gets isolated.
If both wingers are marked, Mbappe attacks the space between centre-backs.
That’s an impossible equation for most defensive structures.
They’re also complementary their profiles.
Vinicius thrives receiving to feet before accelerating.
Mbappe is at his best attacking space behind the defence.
Diomande constantly threatens both. He can run in behind or beat defenders from a standing start, giving Madrid another genuine outlet whenever they regain possession.
Their transition game could become unmatched.
Against high defensive lines, they might be the most frightening team in football. 3 elite athletes attacking open grass with Bellingham, Valverde, Guler or whichever midfielder finds the first pass is a nightmare scenario for any opponent.
But this is where Mourinho’s biggest job begins.
He doesn’t need to make them more dangerous.
He needs to make them balanced.
History has shown that having 3 world-class attackers isn’t enough if the team loses its defensive structure. The BBC worked because Benzema sacrificed, Bale tracked runners when needed, and Cristiano evolved into an elite penalty-box scorer. MSN worked because Suarez did some defensive work while Barcelona’s midfield controlled possession.
This Madrid attack will need similar discipline.
The distances between midfield and attack must remain compact. The pressing triggers have to be coordinated. Someone has to sacrifice without the ball. If everyone wants complete attacking freedom, Madrid could become vulnerable in transition despite all their firepower.
That’s why keeping Vinicius is arguably even more important now. Diomande doesn’t replace Vinícius. He amplifies him.
For the first time in years, Vini wouldn’t be carrying almost all of Madrid’s wide threat by himself. He would have another elite dribbler stretching the opposite side, making it significantly harder for opponents to crowd him out. In many ways, Diomande’s arrival could actually bring the best version of Vinicius back because he’ll face fewer double teams and receive the ball in more advantageous situations.
Madrid finally have the potential to attack with equal danger on both flanks instead of relying predominantly on the left.
If Mourinho gets the tactical balance right, solid rest defence, coordinated pressing, midfield protection, and clear attacking roles, this isn’t just an exciting front line. It will be the best.

🚨 BREAKING: FULL DETAILS OF THE VALVERDE VS TCHOUAMENI STORY:
- Yesterday, in training, Tchouaméni gave a hard tackle to Fede, which Fede did NOT like AT ALL. Tchouaméni insisted he didn't do it on purpose, but Fede did NOT accept his apology. Fede then kept trying to RETALIATE and tackling Tchouaméni very hard.

- Today, at the start of training, Fede REFUSED to shake Tchouaméni's hand. Then, as soon as training started, Fede tackled Tchouaméni VERY HARD, even lifting him off the floor.
- Alvaro Arbeloa tried to solve the situation by putting them ON THE SAME TEAM.
- This did NOT WORK, and they kept fighting.
- After training, in the dressing room, they started PHYSICALLY fighting, with other players trying to physically separate them.
- Fede Valeverde then fell to the floor, head split open, unconscious.
- He was taken to the hospital, with Arbeloa at his side.
