Sarcastic skeptic, trying to avoid becoming a cynical curmudgeon. Bayesian. Can be convinced of others views, it takes a lot of quality data. Ex MS DPG/PIMCO
Due to a lack of persons getting the reference in my prior screen name and little interest in Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice Futures, I am hereby changing it to Elder B.F. Naked.

@TheBestqueenx Because he’s not there to herd them. He looks like a Kangal, Anatolian or other Turkish livestock guardian breed, not a herding breed. When he’s grown, he will view the sheep as family and protect them. With his life if necessary. The sheep know this.
Ken Griffin shared a brutal story about a 22 year-old harvard grad that perfectly explains the ruthless culture of building a $60 billion empire:
"i had a young man from harvard with me, and i asked him: 'if you made $10 million, what would you do?' he said, 'i would quit and i would climb the highest peaks around the world.'"
"i looked at him and said, 'i don't think this is the right firm for you.' he was confused and said, 'well, you've already made an offer to me.' i replied: 'that's wonderful. i strongly urge you not to accept it.'"
"i don't want to hear from somebody who is 22 years old that there's some magic number where they just stop. i want to hear how they are going to climb the next mountain right here at citadel. how they are going to build a business and have a massive impact."
Griffin didn't build one of the most feared hedge funds on wall street by hiring people who just want to get rich and retire. he built it by hiring absolute killers who treat the game itself as the ultimate prize

@EricBalchunas All these vol selling yield enhancement strategies…
Something, somewhere is gonna break at some time.
If something sounds too good to be true….
@PelicanatAnchor@Rainmaker1973 Saw a Japanese tourist get a bit too close to a baby moose in Wyoming…she learned a painful lesson. Thankfully for her, mama could have been much rougher but stomped the ground after knocking her over and not her.
I'm really tired of how much credit Chicago gets for dying the Chicago River green for Saint Patrick's Day, when President Trump has done the same thing for America's 250th Anniversary with zero fanfare.
@Handre Have a friend who owns FF restaurants in CA explain the economics. In LA/Bay Area, min wage increase had very little impact. In Central Valley, they were looking to close 3-5 stores as no longer profitable.
@CliffordAsness About a decade ago was at a dinner w someone who knew Elon since the PayPal days:
“Elon’s in the mining industry.”
“Mining? Maybe the Boring Co, but the others?”
“They mine government contracts and subsidies!”
@EricBalchunas Can’t create an inverse ETF until there is enough float to create sufficient borrow to support a decent short market. Be curious to find out how much holders are charging to lend shares at this point.
@EricBalchunas I think you could take @tomkeene in free throws, but I think he might have you one-on-one. He’s got the size advantage, and I’ve heard his elbows are almost as mean as his hook shot.
@drgurner@itsolelehmann Not laughing. Think Glyphosate and other chemicals are a significant source of what contributes to a lot of “new” maladies. Far more prevalent than asbestos and DDT were 5 decades ago.
What does exposure/incidence of disease look like in farmland?
